Here we all are on our last night at Croll’s Cabins for our 2018 fishing trip. Water was extremely low, fishing was extremely good, fishermen were extremely happy.

From left, Zach, Joe, Jeff, Pete, Josh, Logan, Dylan, Lyndon.

Best fisherman this year was probably a tie between Josh and Lyndon with a slight edge to Lyndon the for big salmon he caught…however, the pike Josh caught was probably the biggest, sooooo, the debate goes on.

Logan Trower, son of Zach Trower and grandson of our daughter Phyllis. I’m not sure all of these are his, however, he  caught lots of fish and he caught the first fish of all of us. We are proud of you Logan….Good job.

The top picture was made in 2013 from Croll’s Cabins. The bottom picture is from 2018. The reservoir is down 32 feet this year. Management let water out to do some maintenance expecting a large snow melt  and it never happened this year. So, not a lot of water but same amount of fish and they were hungry. Our fishing trip was very successful.

Croll’s Cabin at Vallecito Lake near Durango, Co

Posted by Pete | Posted in News | Posted on 07-06-2013

2013 fishing trip 012Need a place to just get away or do some fishing or horseback riding. Bob Croll’s cabins are nice, stocked with all you need except food…It is nice and quiet, wonderful views and the fish are a good size. Last year at Platoro, the fishing seemed to be a little better but the fish were smaller. The good thing about the Croll cabins, they are right on the water. At Platoro, you have to drive a ways to fish if other than river fishing. AT Vallecito, you have to drive a ways to 4 wheel. That helps make it quieter  and less dusty at Vallecito but a little unhandy for some of the boys. It all worked out and we had a wonderful time. Click on the picture to enlarge it. Give the Croll’s a call if you are looking to get away. E. V. Pete Hester

Ok ..7th Annual Hester Boys Fishing Trip……looking forward to several days of son Jeff’s cooking….He buys the steaks in slabs and then cut them to his diners pleasure…Yummm….I’ll let you know about the fishing, but I already know about the eating….

News Flash….Trump Won

Posted by Pete | Posted in News | Posted on 16-07-2018

The election was November 2016…..Hillary Clinton lost….The American people voted Trump in as President of the United States. Putin did not want Clinton either, but he did not vote for either  of them and neither did the Russian people. American’s elected Trump. Repeat…..Trump won.

Could you please let Mr. Trump be President? The Democrats are so worried about the next election that they must keep up the dirt slinging and not let the President get anything done for fear of losing even more ground. Ugly, that’s the best way to put the reaction of the liberals, the news folks, and Hollywood. You do know that Hollywood has people that have played presidents of countries in the movies, played great generals, etc.,  so they know all about how to run things, lead countries and promote the general welfare of the people. They always have money in the movies to get the job done and well know how to keep all the participants playing their parts. Only thing, they know nothing about real life as their own lives reflect how stupid some of them can be. They even do it on T.V., before a live audience and show us how stupid they really are. And all of the reporters of the television world know more than any of the leaders of our government. How do I know that? Well, I listen to them tell me all about how dumb we are. We listen to the same speeches they listen to and in recapping feed us all the behind the scenes crap that was not said in the speech, but should have been, so therefore, the speech in question was a bunch of fabrication…. And another thing,  securing our southern border is a good thing, either with tough security measures or a wall. Mexico has a wall on it’s southern border, so a wall is not new to them.

Would you please let the President be the President for the rest of his term.

Timeless Letter From A Young Soldier, August 10, 1861

Dear Father,

I am well. Send me six dollars.

A Soldiers Plate, July 26, 1862

We get a substance called pressed vegetables. It looks like a plug of tobacco in shape and solidity, composed in part potatoes, onion, carrots, etc. I acknowledge eating two large tin plates full, and I can now speak the German language with fluency.

________

A Love Letter, January 21, 1865

My quarters in camp are passable, but the quarters in my pocket are not. Last night I had a puddle for my pillow, and covered myself with a sheet of water. I long for more whisky barrels and less gun barrels; more biscuits and less bullets. How I wish you were here. The farther away I get from you the better I like you.

Our thanks to Southern Press, 629 Kirk Road,  Gordo, Alabama 35466,  for allowing us to quote material from the July 2018 issue of Rebel Yell.

Open Border

With all the action over illegal immigration, separated parents and children, illegals taking American jobs and the ICE and Border Patrol coming under fire from American citizens because they enforce the law, makes one wonder if our own citizens want an open border. Well, at least some of them. I suppose our  homeless has their own thoughts about that. And I wonder if our veterans have some negative thoughts about that. And our welfare recipients might weigh in on this subject as well.  And those of us that are retired and depending on social security each month probably have reason for concern. Those that are going to be retiring soon should also have some worries about where their money for retirement is coming from. The spend, spend, spend attitude of some people has a stopping point. I think you best make up your mind what you want for your future if you are depending at all on any federal or state dollars.

Maybe the new President of Mexico can come up with some help for his citizens, promoting their welfare benefits in their home country. Reckon? Probably not enough to help much. But something has to give…And soon….

I was looking through the countries that visit my web site today. I appreciate everyone of you and I appreciate you coming by and reading or downloading or both. It is a pleasure to have you visit us. Of course, the top country is the United States with 10,853 hits this month, one of the ways we measure the visitors, China had 1259, Russia Fed., 856, France at 496 and it trickles on down through many, many nations, more than I knew we had. At the bottom there was Botswana at 1, Sudan at 2, Zambia at 2, Cambodia at 2, and Mongolia at 3. To you folks from those countries, thank you so much for spending some of your time with me. To those of you from some of the countries that I did not name, we appreciate you also. Feel free to download my stories, if you are interested or just stay and read them while you are on line. If there is something you would like to see or see more of, leave a comment under one of the post and I’ll be happy to address it or tell it. I’m sure your story would  be much more interesting than anything I could write. God Bless all of you….

Welfare Money…How Long Will It Last?

Posted by Pete | Posted in News | Posted on 21-06-2018

According to some of the figures I picked up on the internet today, in 2012 there were 109.6 million people drawing welfare in these United States of America. According to another number I saw a few days ago, total benefits being paid to these Americans today is about 168.00 dollars US per day. Now, I’m no  math major, but even I can tell you that a number like that is higher than I can count. I am estimating conservatively of over 600 billion per year in welfare cost. I would like for one of our democrats to tell me where the money is going to come from to continue. Plus the government employees pay and benefits. Plus our military upkeep and improvements. Plus our infrastructure cost. Plus supporting those other countries that think we have some money and expect us to share…… A government backed by paper cannot exist very long and how we have continue this long is beyond me. I’m pretty sure the gold in Fort Knox would cover a few million dollars, but Ft. Knox would probably have to be several hundred feet deep to contain enough gold to cover our trillions (I don’t know what you call a number that would cover all of our debt, do you?) of dollars debt. We are never going to get out of debt, so everyone seems to take the stance of “what, me worry”…..I suppose that is the best way to handle it as there appears to be no way out. No, that’s not true as the way out is Jesus Christ and His kingdom and I think we are probably pretty close to “end times”. Seems like to me recovery without Christ is impossible.

Do American’s Feel Guilty?

Posted by Pete | Posted in News | Posted on 13-06-2018

My fellow Americans, does the media make you feel guilty that the dreamers may be sent home? If so, why would you? It was not our fault that the parents of these children brought them over to our country illegally? No….it is not our fault and we should not feel guilty about them being sent home. They should apply for citizenship or maybe something can be worked out,  then great….If not, it’s time to go home.

Do you feel guilty about the children and parents being separated at the border today when the parent comes across our border illegally? Well, don’t….They know full well that it is illegal to do so and that they will be separated from the children. Seems as though they want to get the sympathy of the liberals and the government make exceptions in their cases…. I don’t think that Mr. Sessions will, do you? Sorry about that…But get your green card and come on back.

Do you think that the boys should be able to go to the girls restroom….or the girls go to the boys restroom….Well, me neither. And it is not our fault that some people’s thinking is so screwed up that they think they need to. Sorry, but we don’t agree with that, so go to the rest room that fits your plumbing. No problem.

If a baker or photographer does not want to sell me good or services that he must sell to me anyway…I think he has the right to serve me or not, for whatever reason and I have the right to choose any other baker or photographer. No reason to sue anyone and no reason to feel guilty about not serving someone….no shirt, no shoes, no morals, no service or something like that.

You don’t feel the need to honor our country, our president, or our anthem or our pledge. Ok, then leave, citizen or not.
