Here is a picture of son Jeff on the last episode of “Longmire” with Lou Diamond Phillips in the foreground. He is an extra now but as self appointed president of the Jeff Hester fan club, I’ll be pushing for bigger roles. Good looking guy, huh…I mean he would be great as a good guy, but he could play some of those other not so good parts as well….But he is a good guy and he would fit that role better…SIGNED, President Jeff Hester Fan Club, His Dad…

A Wet July for New Mexico

Posted by Pete | Posted in News | Posted on 01-08-2014

This is the wettest July we have  had since 1930 according to this morning’s paper. And that is good. Not all of the state has had complete relief, but all of it has been helped. The far west side of the state, the northwest corner and the northeast corner and a small blip in southern New Mexico still have a severe drought. The rest of the state has been blessed with some rain, even here on the west mesa area of Albuquerque. I imagine that our lakes and reservoirs have had a lot of the water replenished and more is forecast for this week. Already we have received 4.63 inches of rainfall this year. Wow. Some of you will not thank that is very much rain. Well, it is not for a lot of the places in the world. But I’ll just say:  Thank you, Lord, the rain is a welcomed relief,

Coalfire, Al….My stories

There is no Wikipedia information on Coalfire, Pickens County,  Alabama….It is not included…So, you are gonna have to just trust me or the twenty-five or thirty or fifty other people who can talk about it…Now, there could be a few more than that, I just don’t know how many of us remain today…At one time there was a bunch of us. The population in the early 1900 was in the neighborhood of 800 or so…anyway, that’s what I was told..Three steam sawmills operated there with a spur rail line running over to them. When the good timber was harvested, the mills left and the little community just slowly died out. A bunch of my kin hung on…Mom and Dad, Granddad, Big Momma, Aunts, Uncles, Cousins (first, second, distant even some double first) and probably some kin I don’t even know about. Anyway, there are a lot of good folks still living there and even more that are FROM there. I have put together some of my stories that I hope you will read. And if you have a story you want me to consider using contact me at phhester6@aol.com and we will see if it can be arranged. You can also comment on any of the stories published here. Please refer to the story number so I can determine the one we are discussing. I have some more to add later…These stories also appeared on my facebook page.

Impeach Obama?…

Posted by Pete | Posted in News | Posted on 27-07-2014

Are you kidding me….Impeach the darling of the media, the king of the democrats, he told you last election that the republicans were the cause of all the problems…Impeachment sounds good to a lot of folks, but you are dreaming…He is President of the United States of America because God, I say, God allowed it. Biblically, Obama was suppose to be president…Do I know the reason God allowed it…Absolutely not, but he did. Now I am watching to see how it plays out…Am I uneasy about it all?.. Of course, but God is in control, so you and me should just settle down, relax and see where the world is heading. I don’t think we (America) are going to be in the center of it. I think we are shaping up for the last battle and for Jesus return…I think us Christians are close, very close, to all being called home, our eternal home…So, don’t sweat the small stuff…God is in control…We do need to let the non-Christian know about Jesus so they can join us on that homeward journey…Politics are going to continue until then, but you don’t have to get too caught up in them, do you?  Well, that’s up to you…..Pete Hester

Hamas…Dud….R. Navarrette, Jr. vs USA

Posted by Pete | Posted in News | Posted on 25-07-2014

Hey Hamas, quit tossing missiles over into Israel and I’ll bet you anything Israel will quit attacking Gaza…It is a quick and simple peace plan…it will work…..try it, ok?

Mr. Navarrette, get used to Governor Perry and most all the governors along the southern border of the United States using National Guard to beef up the border…It has to happen and it should have happened months ago. By the way, “Give me your tired, your poor, your huddled masses, etc” means by legal means, but you know that you just don’t want to admit that. And you bring up a interesting point on the Rio Grande….Will alligator’s live there? Anyway, getting tougher on the border is a time that has passed…Only green cards and legal entry. Why don’t you get on the Mexican government’s butt and get them to start helping in the exodus from Central America and Mexico? Pay their citizens a fair and living wage….I don’t hear you attacking them…Have you ever? You write to the liberals here in the USA and you would be writing to the upper crust in Mexico, a job you probably do not want, huh? Matter of fact, Mr. Navarrette the average American citizen is now “Your tired, your poor and your huddled masses.” Well, maybe not average, but not long, my friend, not long. Probably another 15 or 20 million ought to do it……

Excuse Me…What Did I Say?…

I really don’t know what I said or what I did, but I have been averaging just over 100 visitors per day until…Yesterday, 739 folks came by for a visit…so far today, 890 people have come by for a visit…Hey, thanks a lot, I think…No one has left negative comments, but on the other hand, no one has left positive comments. None have asked for my street address or my phone number, so I guess I’m ok…. But anyway, I hope your visit was a pleasant one and since there were no complaints I am going to assume it was pleasant…So, keep coming by..   That’s great…

Perry Posts Patrols

While Obama is worried about the democratic votes, or rather losing democratic votes, Perry worries about America and the illegals pouring through the southern U S borders and he does something about it. I like that. It needs to be stopped and Governor Perry is trying to stop it. He is naturally concerned about Texas, but in a larger picture he is worried about America. We cannot say the same for Obama. He does a lot of talking but he does not offer a lot of actions and solutions, does he? It seems a lot of the folks who should be concerned about the illegals actually want them to come into the USA. Mexico needs to develop a middle class and it would not be hard for them to do. The filthy rich down there will not pay enough for their help to earn a decent living. Pemex, the oil company for Mexico is government owned and should be paying high wages for its employees. There is no welfare programs at all, no help for the lower classes…..Until Mexico and Central America start paying their citizens more and helping them better, all the southern U.S. border states need the National Guard patrolling the area.

EPA Closure of Last Lead Smelting Plant to Impact Ammunition

http://www.thenewamerican.com/usnews/constitution/item/16881-EPA-closure-of-last-lead-smelting-plant-to-impact-ammunition-production

If they can’t get the guns, the government will go after the ammo…However, we should be able to buy it from China…wow…

John Bright Russell, 1/28/40 – 7/3/01

John Bright Russell, better known as Johnny Russell, was a wonderful song writer/singer…I have no reason to feature him here other than I like him and his songs. He wrote some good ones and also had some great singers record his songs. How about Buck Owens, “Act Naturally”. Twenty six weeks on the country western charts, probably one of Buck’s biggest hits…Johnny Russell also wrote “Catfish John”, “Baptism of Jessie Taylor”, and “Ain’t You Even Gonna Cry”. His songs have been recorded by Jim Reeves on the B side of “He’ll have to Go”, a huge song by Jim and The Beatles recorded “Act Naturally” on the B side of “Yesterday” voted on of the top 100 songs ever…How many millions did “Yesterday” sell? A goodly amount, I reckon….George Strait recorded, “Let’s Fall To Pieces Together” another goodly amount….Burl Ives, Dolly Parton, Linda Ronstadt, Carl Smith, Emmy Lou Harris and others recorded Johnny’s songs…His life was cut short by diabetes, dying at age 61….But he left us some great songs…Songs that we continue to enjoy and probably will for a long time to come…All his songs are good and those who have recorded him did a great job. But I would have to say that my favorite is probably Jim Ed Brown singing, “Ain’t You Even Gonna Cry”….Jim Ed does a super job and you can goggle it and hear it on youtube…..

Child Immigrants and other stuff….updated 7/14/14

Posted by Pete | Posted in News | Posted on 13-07-2014

It is a shame, but the children need to be sent back….Our border is closed to illegal crossing and its a rule we have to stick to. Yes, it breaks our heart, but it will also break your heart when America cannot take care of its own…And we are almost there. Please spread the word to Central America that you will be sent back. Do let them have a false hope of getting to stay in America…Apply for legal entry…LEGAL ENTRY…update to this report…Today 2 bus loads of immigrants where taken from Artesia, NM, where several hundred have been staying,  to the Roswell, New Mexico airport and put on planes for Central America…I doubted it would happen, but it did and so quickly. We will see…

How long to pay a favor?…When a fellow borrows, say a thousand dollars and agrees to pay it back with interest, when the last dollar is paid, its over….When someone does you a favor, how long do you pay? Is it one favor or another favor or can one keep asking for favors for a long time? Many favors or just one favor….Among friends, I suppose the favors are not counted, but to some people a favor seems to be a lifetime deal in that the recipient of a favor expecting its return time after time…I guess a person has to take control of that type situation, huh? Really, we should not count, but sometimes there are limits.

Our world is quickly becoming a hot box of wars again and some of them could escalate so easily. Israel is always a place we look at when the shooting starts because of the Biblical prophets. The Middle East and the new caliphate state could bleed over into that arena as well since all the world powers have an interest there. Russia and Ukraine is another prime example of  counties splitting and then fighting after the split and those two could involve others also…..Where will it all end up….Between the Tigris and Euphrates Rivers I am afraid…Just where is it suppose to end…Well, that’s how I see it..

My numbers are coming around again, averaging over 100 per day again. Thank you folks for coming back to see me. I appreciate it very much. And some of you notice I posted Chapter Six to Follow the Sun as several of you read it. Seven and Eight may follow soon. Thanks again.
