Secret Government Agency Closes National Solar Observatory

Posted by Pete | Posted in News | Posted on 13-09-2018

Albuquerque Journal, Thursday September 13, 2018 reports the following. I also checked the internet and they have several articles regarding the closure but with no additional information available.

On Thursday, September 7, 2018 the folks employed at the National Solar Observatory was closed by a government agency and had the employees  evacuate the area. A nearby post office was also told to close and it was also evacuated. None of the people were told what was happening to cause the closure and they were not told how long the closure would last. They said “due to unforeseen circumstances”  due to some security issues and would have no further comments at this time. The FBI is on site, but they are not the agency that closed it, and no one is saying which agency was responsible for the closure.

This place has been operating since 1947, involved in solar research. The operator of the facility is The Association of Universities for Research in Astronomy is addressing a security issue and decided to temporarily vacate the facility.

In another article, which I did not fully explore, there seem to be some solar flares that are raising some eyebrows and I wondered if that could be a part of it….yet, that is what they do: Study solar flares, etc…Soooo, what’s going on? Could the agency that closed the place be the “MEN IN BLACK?” Just saying……

Serena 2 …Umpires 0

Well, it looks like Serna is gonna win …..again. Do you remember a few months ago when she did not like a umpire’s call that she went over to the chair and told him just where she was gonna stick that ball…And she looked like she meant it. So I reckon these umpires better shape up when calling Serena’s games. She looks like she is fully capable to handle most of the umpires and to place that ball exactly where she said she would put it……I guess I better watch about doing a lot of talking or get prepared to take  one of those balls myself….reckon?

Grandparents Again…..

Well, we are grandparents again….We have had this dang squirrel running around in our yard for weeks. I have tried everything to get rid of him….Well, come to find out, it’s a her…This morning five or six little squirrels were running all around our yard…and yes, they were cute…but I went to Home Depot and bought a trap anyway. Now, if I can catch them, I need to figure out where to dump them. I wonder if the zoo area would be ok? We have a park down the street, but that’s too close. I don’t know, maybe down along the river. But there, they would probably die of thirst…..I don’t know yet, first I have to trap the little suckers……

Here we all are on our last night at Croll’s Cabins for our 2018 fishing trip. Water was extremely low, fishing was extremely good, fishermen were extremely happy.

From left, Zach, Joe, Jeff, Pete, Josh, Logan, Dylan, Lyndon.

Best fisherman this year was probably a tie between Josh and Lyndon with a slight edge to Lyndon the for big salmon he caught…however, the pike Josh caught was probably the biggest, sooooo, the debate goes on.

Logan Trower, son of Zach Trower and grandson of our daughter Phyllis. I’m not sure all of these are his, however, he  caught lots of fish and he caught the first fish of all of us. We are proud of you Logan….Good job.

Hester Boy’s Fishing Trip, 2018 Vallecito Reservoir, Colorado

The top picture was made in 2013 from Croll’s Cabins. The bottom picture is from 2018. The reservoir is down 32 feet this year. Management let water out to do some maintenance expecting a large snow melt  and it never happened this year. So, not a lot of water but same amount of fish and they were hungry. Our fishing trip was very successful.

Croll’s Cabin at Vallecito Lake near Durango, Co

Posted by Pete | Posted in News | Posted on 07-06-2013

2013 fishing trip 012Need a place to just get away or do some fishing or horseback riding. Bob Croll’s cabins are nice, stocked with all you need except food…It is nice and quiet, wonderful views and the fish are a good size. Last year at Platoro, the fishing seemed to be a little better but the fish were smaller. The good thing about the Croll cabins, they are right on the water. At Platoro, you have to drive a ways to fish if other than river fishing. AT Vallecito, you have to drive a ways to 4 wheel. That helps make it quieter  and less dusty at Vallecito but a little unhandy for some of the boys. It all worked out and we had a wonderful time. Click on the picture to enlarge it. Give the Croll’s a call if you are looking to get away. E. V. Pete Hester

Ok ..7th Annual Hester Boys Fishing Trip……looking forward to several days of son Jeff’s cooking….He buys the steaks in slabs and then cut them to his diners pleasure…Yummm….I’ll let you know about the fishing, but I already know about the eating….

News Flash….Trump Won

Posted by Pete | Posted in News | Posted on 16-07-2018

The election was November 2016…..Hillary Clinton lost….The American people voted Trump in as President of the United States. Putin did not want Clinton either, but he did not vote for either  of them and neither did the Russian people. American’s elected Trump. Repeat…..Trump won.

Could you please let Mr. Trump be President? The Democrats are so worried about the next election that they must keep up the dirt slinging and not let the President get anything done for fear of losing even more ground. Ugly, that’s the best way to put the reaction of the liberals, the news folks, and Hollywood. You do know that Hollywood has people that have played presidents of countries in the movies, played great generals, etc.,  so they know all about how to run things, lead countries and promote the general welfare of the people. They always have money in the movies to get the job done and well know how to keep all the participants playing their parts. Only thing, they know nothing about real life as their own lives reflect how stupid some of them can be. They even do it on T.V., before a live audience and show us how stupid they really are. And all of the reporters of the television world know more than any of the leaders of our government. How do I know that? Well, I listen to them tell me all about how dumb we are. We listen to the same speeches they listen to and in recapping feed us all the behind the scenes crap that was not said in the speech, but should have been, so therefore, the speech in question was a bunch of fabrication…. And another thing,  securing our southern border is a good thing, either with tough security measures or a wall. Mexico has a wall on it’s southern border, so a wall is not new to them.

Would you please let the President be the President for the rest of his term.

Timeless Letter From A Young Soldier, August 10, 1861

Dear Father,

I am well. Send me six dollars.

A Soldiers Plate, July 26, 1862

We get a substance called pressed vegetables. It looks like a plug of tobacco in shape and solidity, composed in part potatoes, onion, carrots, etc. I acknowledge eating two large tin plates full, and I can now speak the German language with fluency.

________

A Love Letter, January 21, 1865

My quarters in camp are passable, but the quarters in my pocket are not. Last night I had a puddle for my pillow, and covered myself with a sheet of water. I long for more whisky barrels and less gun barrels; more biscuits and less bullets. How I wish you were here. The farther away I get from you the better I like you.

Our thanks to Southern Press, 629 Kirk Road,  Gordo, Alabama 35466,  for allowing us to quote material from the July 2018 issue of Rebel Yell.

Open Border

With all the action over illegal immigration, separated parents and children, illegals taking American jobs and the ICE and Border Patrol coming under fire from American citizens because they enforce the law, makes one wonder if our own citizens want an open border. Well, at least some of them. I suppose our  homeless has their own thoughts about that. And I wonder if our veterans have some negative thoughts about that. And our welfare recipients might weigh in on this subject as well.  And those of us that are retired and depending on social security each month probably have reason for concern. Those that are going to be retiring soon should also have some worries about where their money for retirement is coming from. The spend, spend, spend attitude of some people has a stopping point. I think you best make up your mind what you want for your future if you are depending at all on any federal or state dollars.

Maybe the new President of Mexico can come up with some help for his citizens, promoting their welfare benefits in their home country. Reckon? Probably not enough to help much. But something has to give…And soon….
