January 20, 2021…Conditions in America Inauguration Day

Posted by Pete | Posted in News | Posted on 20-01-2021

As our President Donald J. Trump prepares to leave the White House, I am making this post so it will show back up as a future memory on my timeline. This isn’t a political dispute. I am genuinely curious what the next 4 years will bring:
Today is the Biden/Harris Inauguration.
• Gas is currently $1.95 per gallon.
• Interest rates are 2.25 percent for a 30-year mortgage.
• The stock market closed at 30829.40 though we have been fighting COVID for 11 months.
• Our GDP growth for the 3rd Qtr was 33.1 percent.
• We had the best economy ever until COVID and it is recovering well.
• We have not had any new wars or conflicts in the last 4 years.
• North Korea has been under control and has not been testing any missiles.
• ISIS has not been heard from for over 3 years.
• The housing market is the strongest it has been in years.
• Homes have appreciated at an unbelievable rate and sell well.
• And let’s not forget that peace deals in the Middle East were signed by 4 countries—unprecedented!
• Unemployment sits at 6.7% in spite of COVID.
#Biden takes over on 1-20-21. Let’s see how the next four years fair. God bless America! 🇺🇸🙏🏻 Thank you President Trump!

Homophobic Slur….

Posted by Pete | Posted in News | Posted on 11-01-2021

Now let me see if I have this correct….One of our golfers uttered a homophobic slur under his breath and was called down about it and had to apologize for it. It makes me wonder if our general population would expect God to apologize for Sodom and Gomorrah if it happened today. I don’t think any of the rules, good or bad, have changed one bit since that day many years ago. We try to tell many people “oh, it has all changed now….that is not bad….that is good and don’t you be saying anything bad about something we think is good. Men lying with men is ok nowadays…this is modern times.”  ……I don’t think so folks. It ain’t changed. It is still a sin. And me, or the golfer involved in the homophobic slur are guilty of reminding folks that it is still a sin and folks who do that are doing something wrong in God’s sight…..will we next be saying, “hush, don’t be calling him a bank robber, he was simply a man in need”. I tell you, we have come a long ways, baby….we have come a long ways….

My Pledge

Posted by Pete | Posted in News | Posted on 07-01-2021

I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the Republic for which it stands, one nation, under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all. Since as far back as I can remember I have said those words. They are as real to me as, “Our Father, which art in heaven, hallowed be thy name” is to me. I am a Christian. I am an American. That remains unchanged. Steadfast am I as an American Christian, and I will serve thee, My God and My Country. Forever. Amen.

I want to thank you folks that have read it, as the readers show up, but are not recorded. So, I don’t know who you are, but I want to thank each of you for reading the story. What shows up is the number of people who have click on and read it. The number two story is from my Cousins series, Mrs. Old Lady Thornton’s Treasure. The Coalfire short stories are widely read also. Many thanks, folks…

President Biden…Welcome to the Hot Seat

Posted by Pete | Posted in News | Posted on 16-12-2020

Sir, I am one of your many citizens serving you and our country. I welcome you same as I welcomed President Trump and President Obama and President Bush. You have been elected to serve a great nation and I hope the media treats you better than it did President Trump. Matter of fact, you could almost detect hatred in most all of the opinions stated in each news cast about the president when President Trump reined. Hopefully you will fair better with the media. You can be like our President Obama was and not do anything to upset anybody. Remember what they say, “A sleeping dog does not get kicked.” Anyway, sir, I am the same citizen today as I was for all the other Presidents and I am behind the Office of the President of the United States during your term and the all presidents to follow you. I hope you will remember we are a Christian nation, that’s important to me, but I am an American, no matter what you feel is right and I will try to be the best citizen I can be, same as I was with the others. I may not agree with everything you say and do, but then I did not with the others either. President Bush was my personal favorite and I’m hoping you can kind’a be like him, but that may be asking to much….Anyway sir, it gonna be a rough ride the next four years and I pray that you will follow our God…you know, and back Israel always….

My Heavenly Body….Well, For When I Get There….

Posted by Pete | Posted in News | Posted on 05-12-2020

I love that question Facebook ask me every day, you know, what’s on your mind this morning. Reading in 2nd Cor about me trading in the earthly tent my body calls home will one day soon will be traded in for my heavenly body is what is on my mind. I’m wondering about that this morning, trying to envision just what I’m gonna look like……I was just imagining me standing in the “body shop”, St. Peter saying ok Pete go ahead and pick out the hair do style you want, do you like the bald you or the you from your teen years…Do you want to retain that big belly or do you want this nice set of abs and pec’s. We also have some nice shoulders and biceps over here you may be interested in……well, ok, maybe that’s a little to much even for my overactive imaginations….but my new body……it’s gonna be a good one….

St. Jude Children Research Hospital. Please Give. Thanks

Posted by Pete | Posted in News | Posted on 01-12-2020

Luke 18 verses 15 – 17….”Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belong to such as these”….I try to give something every month to St Jude. What an institution Danny Thomas built for our children and to never charge the family anything for the works they are doing is amazing. My friends, it is you and I who help keep this hospital going to aide the children. I hope you will also remember them when you are looking for a charity to donate to….Please make it one of your goals in life to help our children. What a reward just knowing you are a small part of this worthy effort.

Happy Thanksgiving 2020 Style

Posted by Pete | Posted in News | Posted on 22-11-2020

I reckon a Hungry Man frozen dinner will have to cut it for Thanksgiving this year for me. I think my family would welcome me in their homes if I decided to go but it would not be a wise move for me or for them. Family gathering are being discouraged this year unless you live in the same household, at least in New Mexico. And I think that is smart as that will certainly help with stopping the spread of the virus. I’ll miss the turkey and dressing…..Everyone in my family cooks and cooks well. Their momma taught them well, feeding them food that was so good over the years and most of them got a lot of the recipes from their mom. The 2020 style of Thanksgiving will be the family meal, whatever you decide to fix. I hope you enjoy it and give thanks for what you have……..So I’m gonna miss the food a lot…but I’m gonna miss the hugs and kisses a lot more….But hold on folks, this too shall pass

Our Pandemic…Just Won’t Go Away

Posted by Pete | Posted in News | Posted on 12-11-2020

I hope someone is working on a cure or vaccine for Covid-19, don’t you? Or in the least some way to slow it down. We are coming up on two years of fighting this virus, staying home, wearing masks, not seeing family, not going to church, no family gatherings, not traveling to other states and countries, working from home, schooling at home, 14 day quarantines, no hand shaking, not inviting neighbors in to visit and on and on….I don’t know about you but I’m ready to get back to normal…but I am wondering, will the normal ever be normal again? I think the world is changing, thinking is changing, and a lot of the changing is for the better. It moves a lot of us closer to God. A lot of us don’t see it that way…to the contrary they move further away from God following a watered down version of the Gospel (thinking that some laws of God are outdated or do not apply to them) or completely denying there is a God……Well, let me be the one to inform you that He is still there….He still is in charge….His laws are unchanged. Have you thought that maybe the virus is a way to get you to look at Him, to get you to understand that our time on earth is limited? That we will all spend eternity at either one of two places? Heaven or Hell…Both real places…both forever and forever. I hope you will think on it and choose Heaven before it’s too late to choose. Virus or no, our time here on earth is limited.

USA. Still A Christian Nation

Posted by Pete | Posted in News | Posted on 30-10-2020

I checked in with Wikipedia on some numbers about the religious folks left in America. They say that in 2019, 43% of Americans are Protestants, 20 % Catholic, 26% unaffiliated and 2% Mormon, Jewish 2%, and Islam 1%. If you read the news you get the feeling that some of those numbers are off a little bit the way some reporters carry on. Anyway, in 1963 a full 90% of Americans were Christians. In 2016 those numbers had dropped to 73.3 % and it feels like in 2020 that those numbers may be to high…I hope not but when you read all the media reports they seem to differ. Mississippi remains the most religious state in the union with 63% reports being religious and New Hampshire being the least religious at 20%. There are enough of us believers left that we should stand up and be counted….Backing our motto of “In God We Trust”, showing the Ten Commandments in public buildings, Sending cards that read “Merry Christmas” and not happy holidays. Folks, we are still a Christian nation. Lets continue to claim “America For Christ”…
