Happy Thanksgiving 2020 Style

I reckon a Hungry Man frozen dinner will have to cut it for Thanksgiving this year for me. I think my family would welcome me in their homes if I decided to go but it would not be a wise move for me or for them. Family gathering are being discouraged this year unless you live in the same household, at least in New Mexico. And I think that is smart as that will certainly help with stopping the spread of the virus. I’ll miss the turkey and dressing…..Everyone in my family cooks and cooks well. Their momma taught them well, feeding them food that was so good over the years and most of them got a lot of the recipes from their mom. The 2020 style of Thanksgiving will be the family meal, whatever you decide to fix. I hope you enjoy it and give thanks for what you have……..So I’m gonna miss the food a lot…but I’m gonna miss the hugs and kisses a lot more….But hold on folks, this too shall pass

Our Pandemic…Just Won’t Go Away

I hope someone is working on a cure or vaccine for Covid-19, don’t you? Or in the least some way to slow it down. We are coming up on two years of fighting this virus, staying home, wearing masks, not seeing family, not going to church, no family gatherings, not traveling to other states and countries, working from home, schooling at home, 14 day quarantines, no hand shaking, not inviting neighbors in to visit and on and on….I don’t know about you but I’m ready to get back to normal…but I am wondering, will the normal ever be normal again? I think the world is changing, thinking is changing, and a lot of the changing is for the better. It moves a lot of us closer to God. A lot of us don’t see it that way…to the contrary they move further away from God following a watered down version of the Gospel (thinking that some laws of God are outdated or do not apply to them) or completely denying there is a God……Well, let me be the one to inform you that He is still there….He still is in charge….His laws are unchanged. Have you thought that maybe the virus is a way to get you to look at Him, to get you to understand that our time on earth is limited? That we will all spend eternity at either one of two places? Heaven or Hell…Both real places…both forever and forever. I hope you will think on it and choose Heaven before it’s too late to choose. Virus or no, our time here on earth is limited.

USA. Still A Christian Nation

I checked in with Wikipedia on some numbers about the religious folks left in America. They say that in 2019, 43% of Americans are Protestants, 20 % Catholic, 26% unaffiliated and 2% Mormon, Jewish 2%, and Islam 1%. If you read the news you get the feeling that some of those numbers are off a little bit the way some reporters carry on. Anyway, in 1963 a full 90% of Americans were Christians. In 2016 those numbers had dropped to 73.3 % and it feels like in 2020 that those numbers may be to high…I hope not but when you read all the media reports they seem to differ. Mississippi remains the most religious state in the union with 63% reports being religious and New Hampshire being the least religious at 20%. There are enough of us believers left that we should stand up and be counted….Backing our motto of “In God We Trust”, showing the Ten Commandments in public buildings, Sending cards that read “Merry Christmas” and not happy holidays. Folks, we are still a Christian nation. Lets continue to claim “America For Christ”…

A Place To Write…Not Make Money

Most all of you think of a web site as a place to make money. Well, maybe most of them are. This one is not. I mean, nothing is wrong with making money. We all need some. But for me, this site is a place to write. Sometimes to write about stuff, things that do not matter and sometimes a place to unload my mind, a place to get stuff off my chest. Just write. Maybe one day I’ll write about something that really matters. I kind of doubt that, but it could happen. I get a lot of comments about me adding ways to make money on my site. It’s just not about making money here. It started out to be, that did not work out, nobody was buying or reading and it was before e-books, but e-books probably would not have made a difference. Anyway, to you guys who write to me about making more money on my site need to understand that I’m paying money to stay here…Why you ask. Well, I really don’ know. I suppose it’s because it is up and running and does not cost all that much to keep it going and it gives me a place to write. So, you can keep hounding me about making money if you want to but it’s a waste of your time. I ain’t gonna make no money, rest assured of that. And you guys need to be after those sites who do wish to make money. But thank you for coming by and reading what you read and I do read some of your comments and I might from time to time publish some of those comments if they are well written and in good taste and make some sense, but most probably I’ll just trash them. It’s up to you, but thanks for coming by and reading my posts.

Vote…You Should Vote

Vote….even though it may be a selfish vote, you have to excise that right. The “old adage that if you are not for me you are against me” is correct. Even if you feel like neither candidate is worth voting for and feel the need to skip the top office, vote for the lower offices that you feel you can vote for. The top job this year, in my humble opinion, remains in God’s hand. I think he wants us to do what we feel is true and correct, yet all of us know that He is in control and it will turn out exactly as it is suppose to in matters of the world and events leading up to the end times. People say all the time that the USA is referred to in the bible in the later, final years of the world. I’m not sure we are referred to. Some say we are a Christian nation backing Israel and are counted with them. Maybe we are.  But I just wonder if we fall so far from grace that we do not count in the end times, count as a world power I mean. But whatever the reason, if we are or are not, we will be counted and we will experience the end times as the bible recounts it and in full measure. I think God would want us to vote and vote along party lines, i.e., for God or for Satan. If some proclaim breaking God’s laws is one of the things we are voting for, those issues becomes what the believer must vote against….. Yeah, I know, some of you are going to argue with that, but really, God’s law are not up for vote. They are still in place and will remain in place…… How can we ignore them?  Vote for God’s laws.

The Time is Right…

Jesus ascended into heaven, many, many, years ago promising to return at a later date and stating, quite frankly that no one would know the day of His return. I do not know when. All the preachers of the gospel do not know when. But he did give us signs and told us to watch for those signs, so that we may know when that day is near. I have read those signs. And for many years folks have said it is close, the time is near was proclaimed even when I was a young man. At eighty four, folks are still saying exactly that…..But now, with this virus thing, it’s taking us places and into stuff we have never seen before, probably much like the Black Plague in earlier times. I don’t know about you folks, but I’m of the opinion that the time is right for His return…..I’m getting ready…I hope you’ll get ready if you are not yet prepared for His return. We all are going to die and be resurrected and then live forever. There are two destinations after death, Heaven and Hell. You gotta choose now which yours will be. I have asked Him to forgive my sorry soul of my sins and to save me from that eternal Hell that is spoken of in the bible and to take me to be with Him in Glory. You also have to decide….. I hope you will also chose Heaven.

Helen Hester May 1938 – October 2020

French’s Funeral Home Obituary Helen Hester shows the story of my Sweetie.  I had so much trouble trying to post it on my web site that I gave up trying. She was a beautiful wife, a wonderful mother and a very dear friend. She is being missed by a whole bunch of folks….and most of all by me, her number one fan. And the title of the song is, for me anyway, “You Are Always On My Mind”. Precious Lady……

Did You Know?….

Did you know that when I was a sales manager for a company and making sales calls, especially to those companies that we did not serve but wanted their business…whatever the outcome of my call on them, I would write a memo, dressing it up in as much bs as possible without turning off my bosses. And that is part of the reason I wanted to write, just really feeling like I could. Then when the heart doctor said to me I believe we can add at least another 5 years to your life by having by-pass surgery I understood that my time on earth had it’s limitations. During my recovery I prayed that God would let me write….and paint…things that I had wanted to do and had never done and was not trained in either. I forgot to ask God to let me be good at it. That was in October, 1997. Thank you Lord….Thank you Doctor….I have written twelve novels and several short stories and have painted so many pictures and rocks that I cannot count. I don’t really know how many. I have a web site that I pay for and let people come and read some of those stories for free. I give away the painting to those that have asked for them, rocks and canvas, especially to people on my block, and some who came by our garage sales. No training except what I picked up here and there, so what God freely gave to me, I have tried to give to others. Mailing stuff cost so much money anymore that is hard for me to pay for sending stuff out. This morning I wanted to say that I was inspired by my writing sales memos to my bosses who were probably wondering “what the heck is this guy was so wordy about” and it kick started me to wanting to write. How about you? Has God inspired you to something? If he has I encourage you to first pray about it and if God gives you a go…..well, do it my friends…do it. Have a great day.
