Alabama – Auburn Rematch Bowl Game…

Ok, here’s the deal….I think Bama is the better team and Auburn is just lucky, well, ok, besides being a pretty good football team. But, come on, that was a fluke play…A once in forever type play. I think Ohio State, Florida State or any of those other teams can play whoever, but if they are not beating Alabama, they are not number one. That would be another mythical champion…..  And really, folks, I am not a sore loser, that’s just the way it is. Number one basketball teams get beat every year and it hurts of course, but most every one knows they had a let down or a fluke game, but it does not change the fact they were the better team…And they usually go on to prove it….Same here, Bama deserves another chance…Ok, sports fans, you can tell me I am wrong…(I’m not, but you can still tell me)…..Well, some memories never end. You know what I’m saying…So, where can they play? I know, Iron Bowl Replay, Birmingham, Alabama….There would be a sell out….We got to put this together in a hurry….Come on Tuscaloosa, Auburn, Birmingham, Mobile, Huntsville, Florence, Madison, Reform and Coalfire …..We need your immediate support….Pete

Support for what? There comes a time when everyone needs a butt kicking. It was time for St. Nick (and the Alabama team), and they got it this time. Why can’t we just wait until next year to kick back? The Creation and Consummation of the World do not depend on one football game. Besides! If the 2013 Bama team was really so good, one fluke touchdown would not have won it. That one Auburn fluke must have been backed up by a lot of good playing (or Alabama really played a lousy game for the entire 60 minutes). I’m not an Auburn fan, but give Auburn her due for a change. It’s only football. We can wait until next year.

Nope, its not the same team for Auburn and not the same team for Bama. It is not the same at all next year. Every team in the nation will be different, year older, a year younger, new talent, lose old talent, new coaches and on and on….It’s not the same next year, ever….

No team is ever the same from one game to the next, from one year to the next, or even from one play to the next. Replaying one game solves nothing because the teams in the replay game are not the same as the teams in the original. Let it be! Give Auburn their due rather their win was based on talent or sheer luck. There is always a lot of luck involved in the best of teams.

No, lets replay….You are always so serious….No kidding around at all….A replay would be nice….Uh, did I pick on your when you were a kid?……

I agree! A replay would be nice, but it is not necessary. Alabama is always number one in my book. Any number of replays will not change that. The world must go on. No round robin tournament can continue forever. The team and the coaches must prepare for next year.

I don’t remember you picking on me as a kid, but your brother Sambo certainly did, particularly at this time of the year concerning Santa Claus. I loved ole Sam, though, for every minute of it. He kept me clean, pure, and ready for Santa. As far as I know, Santa never once missed stopping at our house. For the most part, I always received pretty much what I asked for. My letters to North Pole, Alaska (near Fairbanks), where Marina and I visited in April, 2012, were always answered. They were answered because of Sambo. His kidding kept me clean, pure, and ready for Santa. About the only thing that I remember about Pete in those days was when he tried to teach me how to throw a Harry Gilmer pass. You are a good teacher, but your teaching just didn’t stick with me. Perhaps I simply wasn’t the atheletic type. Maybe I thought I was too smart to learn the mundane things about football. I certainly was no Harry Gilmer. Perhaps I was just too dumb to learn. I bet you don’t even remember when you tried to teach me how to throw a football like Harry Gilmer. The event stands out clearly in my mind.

In summary, a replay would be very nice, but the holiday season is rapidly approaching, and Super Bowl Sunday will be here in no time. Let’s let the players and the coaching staff have a wonderful holiday season of rest and relaxation as they prepare for next year at which time Bama can again womp and stomp across the football field. Every season and every thing must have its closure.

When I wrote that post, of course I knew that would never happen….It was just a moment of light heartedness, trying to stir up Bama fans….Apparently, some Bama fans “just will not stir”. So, for those fans other than yourself, we still feel like Bama is the best team and would be delighted to have a chance to prove it. It is not going to happen, ever, never, no way Jose, but as I said in the original post, “some memories never end”….Speaking of memories, brother Sam has a birthday coming up Dec. 7th. What a special place he has in my heart. He was a wonderful brother and I thank God for Sam’s presence in my life…Pete

My concern, if Saban had a long kicker, why didn’t he use him for the second kick? I know he is a good coach, but in the heat of the battle sometimes you lose your good sense and that is how you let the underdog and the worst team, (or person) win.

Well, they said the long kicker was an unproven freshman, but he had been kicking from 60 yards pre-game and making them, so Saban decided to try him. But, even with a good proven kicker, one would think that a possible run back would have been considered, huh?…Thanks for coming by, Don….Pete

I am not an Auburn fan, but my husband is a devoted fan. It is good for Auburn to win the Iron Bowl occasionally, if it was luck or a bad coaching call; they won the game. Next year I know the Tide will win!! Roll Tide Roll in 2014!!!

Uncle Sam was a precious man. I miss him.

ok, lets look at your comments, Lisa……(I am not an Auburn fan)…Right on, Roll Tide and good for you…(My husband is a devoted Auburn fan)….How did Papa ever let him get away with that? That’s what I would like to know…and they were big buddies….Ok, I think I know, Dwright is a mighty good man, so that cut a lot of ice with Papa and with me….(Good for Auburn to win the Iron Bowl)…Never, never, never, Lisa, never, ever…….(Bad luck or bad coaching)….some of both I think….(Next year the Tide will win)….Amen, sister, amen…..(Uncle Sam was a precious man and I miss him)…That’s another amen…..Thanks for coming by Lisa. By the way, I heard the other day that the state of Alabama was split almost 50 – 50 between Alabama and Auburn fans. I figured Auburn’s half was all on the east side of the state….Guess not, huh?
