Genesis, Chapter One, Verse One
In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth. Gospel of John,
Chapter One, Verse One: In the beginning was the Word and the Word was God.
Chapter One, Verse 14 The Word became flesh and made His dwelling among us.
Chapter One, Verse 17 For the law was given through Moses, grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
Chapter Fourteen, Verse 6 I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through t me.
Chapter Fourteen, Verse 7 If you really knew me, you would know my Father as well. from now on, you know him and have seen him.
Now, I am a Christian. I believe in Jesus. Jesus is the son of the true and only God. There is no other. To say there are other Gods is an untruth. People do follow ones they call god, but they are following false god(s).
That’s all I got to say about that…
It does look like you have said enough. John was the best identifier of false gods in the Bible. That’s the thing that sets the Gospel apart from all the other Gospels more than anything else.
Several people have been saying on TV lately that there are many Gods…..That is what got me started. Of course, they will never read my posting, but I feel better now that I have said it….Thanks for agreeing.
I suppose the principal other god mentioned on TV is man himself, man setting himself up as a god before other men not dependent upon anything but himself. It is man, self reliant, dependent only on his own brain and skills to get him through. God made man in His own image with a skill set only slightly below that of the one true God but one that is still below that of God nevertheless. That slight amount below that of God still makes God’s skill set superior and that is what makes the skill set of man still dependent on that of God.
I guess the principal other god mentioned on TV is the supposed god of man himself, that is man positioning himself as a god before other men, all knowing where scientific technology is sufficient to get him through all trials. This is just another failure of man to recognize the Godhead and to recognize his own inability to cope with respect to areas where God has preeminence.
Did you see where the media and Islam came down on Mr. Ricketts, father of Tom Ricketts Chicago Cubs chairman, for what they considered Islamophoic comments when he said that “Islam is a cult and not a religion?”. I think he should be congratulated for standing up for the truth. I guess they did not read our writings, huh?
No, I did not see the comments of Mr. Ricketts or the reaction of the Chicago media about his supposedly Islamophoic comments, but I am not surprised by such outrageous comments from the media. The word “cult” comes from the Latin, cultus = care. Any care-giving organization could be called a cult. If Islam is one, it is only because the adherents of Islam is unusually dedicated even to the point of death. Dedication is no reason to deny them a cult status. Whether a cult or whether a religion, the believers in Islam deserve a fair treatment in the eyes of the world. The cult or religion may be in error, but the adherents of Islam deserve a fair treatment in their attempt to understand the wonderments and complexities of the one true God and to apply that understanding to their own lives. Who are the media to say anything differently, or to suggest an alternative. Only God can do that.
