San Juan River Fishing..

The San Juan River is New Mexico’s renown trout stream…The first two miles downstream of Navajo Dam is a catch and release area. The next seven miles are catch and keep and fly fisherman come from all over the world to fish these waters. I saw today on the news where Fish and Wildlife were placing boulders in various places in the river on this seven mile stretch to make for some “quiet waters” to improve the fishing. That has been places I have looked for while fishing, places where the fish wait for bugs and little creatures to come over the rocks and swirl round and round, but I never thought about hauling some big rocks in to make these pools. Wonder if we will be allowed to make our own fishing holes provided we can push some boulders into place?…well, it was just a thought….on second thought, one boulder could damn up the Pecos in several locations, huh?….
