From the book Cousins I have added another story to the downloads. I invite you to read it and I hope you enjoy it. I used the name Middle Creek in the book….It is really Coal Fire Creek…I should have used its real name, huh? click on the blue print…
We did have a swimming hole with a huge cypress stump out in the very middle of the creek. I don’t recall exactly how big it was, but several of us boys could sit on it at the same time. When Coal Fire Creek was running clear you could often see this big alligator gar swimming around the hole. I am pretty sure he was as long as us boys were tall. It was a scary sight to behold. Here is the story as one cousin told it, truth stretched somewhat, but ball park, kinda, well….,ok, here it is the way I wrote it….Cousins, Chapter Nine, Alligator Gar
From my book on the teenage cousins of the 1950 in Pickens County, AL, this chapter is about spending all summer working on a swimming hole and all that happened concerning that particular swimming hole. The story is true, to a point, with the writer taking many liberties and changing some names and maybe altering a few facts here and there….It was a good summer…Some of you Pickens County boys will remember this swimming hole. Click on the high lighted print to read,…Chapter Eight, Summer Vacation
Chapter_Eleven…We had one store in my community back in Alabama. It was situated on top of a hill. At the bottom of this hill was my uncle’s corn patch, beautiful rows of tall corn. The airplane crash happened and several of us cousins were there. This is that story, kind of, as I might have souped it up just a little, but not much…It was an exciting few days around our community.Read about it here in this download. Click on the blue Chaper Eleven to read or just click on all the downloads over to the right column. thanks, Pete
A few years ago I had just completed a book about a little white mouse. I was excited about this story. While visiting no. 1 son and no. 2 son they were asking me about my new project and I told them about my English speaking white mouse, “Bernie”, and they said, “Dad, have you heard of Stuart Little?” “No,of course not, I have been to busy writing.” So, because Stuart Little beat me coming out, I have done nothing with my story, not even a good edit, yet. So, I am going to put Chapter One of Bernie, Also Starring Ralph and Carlos in the downloads and let you tell me if you want more. Ralph is a carrier pigeon that speaks English also and has been trained by the CIA for work in third world countries. Upon hearing they eat pigeons in the third world countries, he went AWOL. He becomes the personal pilot for Bernie and flies him from Washington down to Laredo, TX to spend the winter. Bernie has upset a hit man forthe mobsters and they follow him there. While in Laredo they meet Carlos, an American Crow employed by the Border Patrol who speaks English and Spanish and patrols the area over Lake Amstad. The mob finally catch up with them and….Bernie,_Chapter_one well, I need to let you see if it is something you would like to read….so, let me know, ok? just click on the link

Cowboys_and_Indians[1]Some more of the 1950 Alabama cousins. The game got pretty serious and then later our encounter with a dang old bull. I think you will enjoy this chapter. Let me know. Pete
Chapter_Four,_Moonshine_Mafia The cousins go fishing over in Winston County, AL in 1950’s in some rugged country, amongst a few stills and what have you. Based on some of the stories told about that time of the cousins life. I hope you enjoy it.
Yeah, we did try to run away. This story is kind of true. That dad-gum marine belt for sure is true. Pop used it to sharpen his straight razor and to wear out my butt. He only shaved two or three times a week, so most of the usage was probably on my bottom. I’m sure I deserved every one I got. We had too many kin folks watching us to get away with much meanness. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the running away story……Cousins, Chapter Ten, Running Away
