Come November 2010 New Mexico will have a female governor. I probably can’t write about them like I did ole Bill, it just ain’t the cowboy way….We need to be nice to the ladies…Now, if one of them happen not to be a lady, well then, look out….But we gonna treat them as ladies until they prove different. I have met and spoke with Lt. Gov. Diane Denish…A nice lady and I liked what she had to say…At the time our Governor was, er, ah, traveling out of state and she was the big boss for that period…Matter of fact, she was the big boss for many periods…But Bill was doing important stuff for the govenment, going overseas and all, matter of fact since he came away clean from the state of New Mexico, President Obama might have a place for him some where, reckon? well, back to the governor race…Ms. Susana Martinez, a District Attorney from Las Cruces is the republican candidate for governor….I have heard her on TV and she made a good impression on me having some good things to say about the office and how she can and will improve it….I don’t know just yet…my conservative nature tells me one thing but my sense of fairness tells me to wait about making a selection….I’ll keep you posted..I would like to hear my fellow New Mexican’s opinion if you would like to comment, let me know…..thanks Pete Hester

Pretty nice post. I just stumbled upon your blog and wanted to say that I have really enjoyed browsing your blog posts. In any case I’ll be subscribing to your feed and I hope you write again soon!
As a former fellow New Mexican, I do have an opinion. I am happy to see that New Mexico has finally developed a two-party system where a democratic leutenant governor is actually being challenged. I remember, during the election of 1968, just about the only Nixon supporters I could find were military people on the base, and they tended to be from out-of-state(Wallace supporters like me).
Unfortuanately, it seems like the females have taken over in New Mexico, as they have the news media. I guess we must get use to listeing to “squeaky voiced” females in every area of life. It has gotten to where that one cannot get the daily news without listening to these high-pitched, squeaky voices. As I get older and as I lose more of my hearing in the lower decibel range, I suppose this is good. At least, I can keep listening to the news. As an aside, there is an advantage. A few of the female news anchors are quite attractive. If I get tired ot the high-pitched, squeaky voices, I can always plug my ears and look at the sights and forget about the sounds.
But look what we have as a result: Nancy Pelozi, Janet Napalatano, and Hillary Clinton? Females in government may be right from the standpoint of equal opportunity, but they are giving us a government that is not one bit better, and perhaps is worse. And don’t give me your Elizabethan, chiverous bull. A female politician deserves the same treatment as a male politician, simply because she is a politician and likely deserves the same treatment.
I hope Ms. Martinez romps over Bill’s assistant in Santa Fe. I’m sure that Bill will become another one of Barack Obama’s many, many czars. I thought that “czar” was a Russian title until Barack Obama came along and turned it into an American title. We will all soon be “comrades” under Czar Bill (either Richardson or Clinton). I have one last question. Will the female czars be called czarinas in an age of equal opportunity for all?
On the stage called New Mexico Politics, I am not sure what they will be callec, but rest assured they will be called something
