PAC 10, BIG 10, BIG 12

Man, I had just gotten all the teams and conferences figured out, now this….What are we gonna do folks?…..Colorado in the PAC 10, I guess now it’s the PAC 11…that kind of hangs up on your tongue, don’t it….BIG 11, is it Nebraska and Missouri, if  so the BIG 12 becomes the BIG 10 and the BIG 10 becomes the BIG 12. …and Boise State to the Mountain West….Hold on to your hats ’cause I think it is just started….Every team wants to be in the SEC….Here’s what we can do….Have the SEC-east, SEC-west, SEC-north, and the SEC-south….You don’t win 10 games in any season and you go to one of those other conferences…win 10 games three years in a row and you are eligible for re-admittance…..Well, yeah, I know you guys are gonna come down on me for this so let me say, I’m an Alabama fan, always have been, always will be….That said, I really get tired of all the sports writers and reporters inability to see any teams other than SEC teams.  Maybe a good jumbling of conferences will help us all….who is to say, huh?..not me for sure..I just hope the Mountain West will get a little respect…Boise State might help…TCU, BYU, Utah, and now Boise State is four pretty fair ball clubs. Now if we can get Texas Tech interested, wow, that makes a good conference, right? Can we start the ball rolling on Texas Tech joining the Mountain West? Talk it up and let’s see if it goes anywhere…..Can’t hurt, can it?….

Nebraska can’t stand the heat (Texas) so they are getting out of the ktichen. Too bad Ohio State, Michigan, and Iowa will also beat them. I wonder where the Cornhuskers will go next in search of the elusive championship season.

They are going to the Big 10, or is it now the Big 11…They probably should have considered the Mountain West. But, they always seem to recruit well, sooooo, maybe one of these days…we will see, huh?

I think it would be great if the Big 2 didn’t give up rights to the name forcing the Big 10 to stay the Big 10 with 12 schools

Seems like a lot of the time the number of schools dictates at least a part of the conference name, others regions of the country, WAC, MWC, Big Sky, Big East, ACL and SEC. Our mid-country states could probably called the Big Belt or Farm Belt Conference “starring the Cornhuskers” and “Buckeyes” and “Boilermakers”…..oh, well, it was just a thought, the farmers will probably have problems with the Gophers and Badgers,Wolverines and Lions being chased by the Spartians and Hossiers

Sick and tired of the waiting. Wish Texas would just make their desicion public and get this all over with.

Sorry, Penny, but knowing the folks down at Texas, they will make the right choice when it is finally made. All you and I can do it wait…They will be tough where ever they land, you can count on it, football, basketball and baseball…Women basketball ain’t bad either, huh?..Pete

Texas seems to be playing their hand close the their chest right now. The remaining Big 12 South schools will go wherever they go (except A&M might join SEC) and poor Baylor is shut out in the cold. For their sakes (and Iowa State in the North) I hope Texas decides to remain a big 12 member

“The eye’s of us are on Texas, all the live long day.”I really do not think Texas, Baylor, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Kansas, Kansas State, Iowa and Iowa State will be moving. Not so sure about Missouri but I don’t think the Big 10 (or whatever they are) will invite Missouri….Do you?

This is interesting. I forgot how much money the remaining schools could make from the penatly fees. The remaining 5 schools could try to broker a football alliance with the Big East but remain the Big 12 in name.
Officials from five Big 12 schools — Kansas, Missouri, Kansas State, Iowa State and Baylor — held a conference call on Saturday, The Kansas City Star reported. The schools agreed they would like to continue as members of the Big 12.
The five potential teams that could be left in the Big 12 if the exodus of five others continues to the Pac-10 would be wise to remain together, a conference commissioner with experience dealing with expansion told ESPN.com’s Andy Katz.
The reason is simple: The five remaining schools would be due a huge payday and ultimately could salvage automatic berths to the NCAA tournament and possibly the BCS through expansion themselves.
The commissioner, who didn’t want to be identified because he’s involved in the ongoing realignment of college athletics, told Katz it would be critical for Kansas, Kansas State, Missouri, Baylor and Iowa State to maintain the Big 12 as an entity or corporation.
“The assets, the amount of money that they would be due by exit fees back to the corporation would be huge,” said the commissioner. “Rather than dissolve the Big 12, they are better off as a Big 12 entity then moving to the Mountain West.”

It looks like these teams will stay put for at least another year, huh? They seem to want what Texas wants….
