Mike Leach Update

Did you see this morning’s paper….Coach Leach did not deny contact from UNM other than to say New Mexico already has a coach…Listen, I am really not promoting a coaching change at this point as our coach should be given the rest of this season, but I am saying that if we do need to replace our coach at the end of the year and Coach Leach is available and willing it would be the best thing that has happened to Lobo football in a while…He has the name and will be able to recruit good quarterbacks and recievers and then we might really need the three digit scoreboard….and the Lobo’s would be in the mix with TCU and Boise State and Nevada and Fresno State….Wouldn’t that be something?….Well, I hope the Lobos can win one tonight…I really do….It would also be nice if the Aggies could also whip the Jayhawks….We need both New Mexico teams to win one, huh?….Today may be the day…..

About the middle of the third quarter last Saturday afternoon in Fayetteville, many Alabamians were just about ready to donate ole St. Nick to the Loboes cheap, but he pulled it out in the fourth quarter. I suppose winning football games in the fourth quarter is the mark of a good football coach. St. Nick may be worth his 13 million after all, but I still say that is a lot to pay a football coach.
This mornings paper said if we fire Coach Locksley will will still owe him 3 million and would have to cough up enough to hire a new one….so, thats pretty steep prices…What does a college professor get, 250,000 or so…quite the difference, huh?…
Instead of firing Coach Locksley and paying the 3 million, it might be better to make it so rough on the coach that he will decide to leave voluntarily. That way, he will be breaking the contract, and the University will not have to pay the 3 million. Now, the big question is “How does one make it so rough on a coach to make him dump 3 million?” This may take a lot of harrassment.
