Alabama gets beat…..Dallas Cowboys gets beat….New Mexico Lobos get beat….Matter of fact, the paper stated this morning that New Mexico has a bye this week and the bye is favored by 3 and a half points….Now thats bad, huh?…I remember years ago when “Bama would get beat how my Dad would mope around until they did beat someone, but he always felt terrible after Bama took a beating….Well, I am the same way and when all my teams take a hit, golly, I am really down and out….It’s just a ball game you say and I say the same thing, but my heart just will not listen…I hate I’m like that….Usually, a big dish of ice cream helps….I am going to look for some support down at the DQ….Probably feel better in a little bit, a large cone or maybe a strawberry shake….Yeah, I’m feeling some better already….

Pop, Did take a Bama lose hard. I can remember listening to them on the car radio with him and him getting upset with
Coach Bryant if they got behind. He loved Alabama football.
Right on, Dan, he did love his Bama football…Serious stuff, I mean….
When I first read this blog, I thought you were talking about the Red Drew era where there were plenty of Alabama losses to get upset about. If you were talking about the Bryant era, Uncle Web didn’t have that many opportunities to get upset because Bryant never lost many ballgames. When a Bryant team did lose, it was usually only viewed as a correction in the grand scheme of coaching. Ole St. Nick finally just ran up against a coach in Columbia that was at least as good as he is and who is willing to work for less money. The Alabama team was in need of a correction. I bet it will be a better team as a result of it.
I hope so…..
The Loboes will be a better team too. With a correction each week, they have only one way that they can go, and that is up.
You know, they really have been a better team each week, that said I am not sure they will win many games this year…But who knows, stranger thing have happened…
I agree Pappy– stranger things have happened; let’s hope the Lobos get a win… however, I hate to admit, I don’t know if they will.
During the Cowboys game the ‘other Hester Boys’ (#1 Son, #2 & #3 Grandsons) were flipping between that game and another ballgame- the Braves. Unfortunately, they lost too… let me just say, even those Hester boys get cranky when their teams loose. Maybe it’s in their genes, you think?
yeah, KJ, I thought about the Braves losing, and I hated it happened, but I was excited for Cody Ross and I know they were also…Let’s hope he plays well against the Phillies….We gonna miss Mr. Cox, huh?….
What is football all about? For that matter, what is life all about? It’s not necessarily about winning. It is about learning, improving, and getting better. In this respect, the Loboes are winners. If the Tide looks at South Carolina as a correction and improve as a result, they can still be winners too. I know that Bear Bryant said that “winning always beats second best”; but what he really meant to accentuate was that the striving to win leads to improvement, building character, and being a better person (and team).
