Re the KOAT-TV Debate….Well, our new governor will be a female, but I am not so sure about a lady…We need some boxing gloves, huh?….Denish said, “You are a liar.” Martinez said, “You are joined at the hip with Bill Richardson.”….I don’t know which comment was worse or which comment was the most truthful…The liar comment came about because of Herb Denish’s client that won big tax breaks from the Richardson administration for an Albuquerque developer, since Diane Denish is Lt. Governor…Diane said he was only paid for his consulting services and did not profit from the deal….The joined at the hip comment from Martinez concerns more of the same spending and pay to play attitude of the Richardson administration going forward should she be elected. Denish accused Martinez of mis-spending federal border security funds provided her district attorney office down in Las Cruces….Martinez contends that the spending for car pruchases, staff bonuses and meetings in a Ruidoso resort was needed to deal with the “burgeoning case load of border crimes”…… On same sex couples rights or domestic partnerships, granting them all the rights of a married couples….Denish said, “its the right thing to do.” Martinez said, “Domestic partnership is just another word for gay marriage, and I do not support that.” …..So now, New Mexico voters will have to sort through all this stuff and figure out what we need to do….But, back to my question, “will a lady be our new governor?”……Yeah, I guess so…they just play rough…

Politics is certainly not what it used to be. Such name calling used to occur in smoked-filled backrooms. Now it is done openly on national and statewide television. I wonder if the appearance of women on the political scene made the difference. And, I thought it would have the opposite affect. I don’t suppose that the presence of the fairer sex leads automatically to a fairer and cleaner government.
I can already hear the first comment, “That’s no lady, thats our Governor”….
In case you did not hear, Susana Martinez is our new governor. Looking forward to better times on state money management, aren’t you?….
