I am posting this picture of my Dad and Brother again. Dec. 7th is Sam’s birthday. He passed away Dec. 27, 2008.  I don’t have a later picture of him on my computer so this picture is all that is available. Anyway, I always have a perfect picture of him in my heart, so this is for you the reader anyway. I really miss visiting with my brother and going to Alabama to see him from time to time. Anyway, I just wanted to remember him and honor him on this his birthday….I still miss you, Sambo…. (a click on the picture will enlarge it.)

Happy birthday (if he was still alive) to my dear cousin! I have very early fond memories of Sambo, especially his joking manner and his incessant kidding. I remember when Sam invited me to ride down to Montevallo with him to help him move his newly graduated and soon-to-be wife from her college dorm. I wasn’t much help. I mostly just went along for the ride. They were married shortly afterward, and they moved to Indianapolis where Joyce had a job with Eli Lilly.

I remember his incessant kidding about my fat size, the nicknames that he dreamed concerning me, and his constant kidding about “Vera’s baby”. In a way, I hated him and his kidding, but I always knew that he was always kidding. It was just his way. No one could hate Sambo for anything. Whereever you are, Sambo, Happy birthday!

Well, I know where he is. And I think you do also…Thanks for remembering Sambo with me…

I don’t remember Sambo as young as he appears in this picture. For that matter, I don’t even remember Uncle Web when he was this young looking. This picture must have been made before Sam went into the Navy. I have no memories of him at that stage of his life.

Well, I was thinking of him alot on his birthday. And I miss both of these men greatly. They both had a big influence in my life as you did my dear uncle……….

Thanks, Dan, yes both were very good men. Thanks for the nice comments….Pete
