Both nations, Mexico and Egypt, are having a bunch of problems, and there is not a heck of a lot people in America can do about either. As a whole, we can make a quicker and better contribution to Mexico than we can with Egypt. But one thing that I have noticed, people are in the streets in Egypt taking an active parts in pushing the government toward democracy…In Mexico, we hear about all the drug related problems, drug dealers and pushers killings the citizens of the country, etc, but we don’t hear much about what the Mexican government or citizens are doing in a proactive nature to head off any of those problems…Mr. Navarrette, in this morning’s Albuquerque Journal, is asking us to not let the Middle East concerns overshadow the concerns of Mexico….Shouldn’t the citizens of Mexico be making some noise themselves? …Should the newspapers and other media take charge, maybe get a few of the weapons captured from the drug runners and do a little shooting themselves….A few shots fired at me would definitely cause return fire….The Mexican people will have to fight for themselves before others will start risking their lives for them or so it seems to me….Maybe I am just uninformed on the matter….But I have not turned on the tv and seen any Mexicans throwing rocks….Have you?…..

As far as Mexico is concerned, there is plenty we can do. We can build a fence along the border from San Diego to the Gulf, electronic or otherwise, to keep out the illegals, and send them to the nearest embassy or consulate to apply for a Green Card. As far as Egypt is concerned, we should just butt out and let the Egyptians handle it. Contrary to our Media, Egypt is just as democratic today under Hosni Mubarik as it was under King Farouk, Gamal Abdel Nasser, or Anwar Sadat; and it is probably as democartic as it will be under Mubarik’s successor, since the successor will likely be another Army officer. We should have learned from Iraq that it is a mistake to nation build a democracy in a country that is incapable of functioning adequately under a democratic government.
