Help me understand (e-mail)

I received this e-mail today and I thought it really hits the point so I want to share it with you:
When you cross the North Korean Border illegally you get 12 years hard labor, if you cross the Iranian border illegally you are detained indefinitely, if you cross the Afghan border illegally, you get shot, if you cross the Saudi Arabian border illegally you will be jailed, if you cross the Chinese border illegally you may never be heard from again, if you cross the Venezuelan border illegally you will be branded a spy and your fate will be sealed, if you cross the Cuban border illegally you will be thrown into political prison to rot, if you cross the United States border illegally you get: A JOB, A DRIVERS LICENSE, SOCIAL SECURITY CARE, WELFARE, FOOD STAMPS, CREDIT CARDS, SUBSIDIZED RENT OR A LOAN TO BUY A HOUSE, FREE EDUCATION, FREE HEALTH CARE, A LOBBYIST IN WASHINGTON, BILLIONS OF DOLLARS WORTH OF PUBLIC DOCUMENTS PRINTED IN YOUR LANGUAGE, THE RIGHT TO CARRY YOUR COUNTRY’S FLAG WHILE YOU PROTEST THAT YOU DON’T GET ENOUGH RESPECT, AND IN MANY INSTANCES, YOU CAN VOTE. I JUST WANTED TO MAKE SURE I HAD A FIRM GRASP ON THE SITUATION…….It’s time to wake up American…… end of e-mail….I did not verify all of it, but I think the info is right on, but I cannot take credit for the e-mail and thanks to whoever originated it…..Pete Hester
Ain’t the USA a great country. It is the only one of its kind on this earth, if not the universe, if we can just keep it.
What are we thinking?
Perhaps we’re not thinking at all. I remember there is a line in Benjamin Franklin’s autobiography where he has just come out into the street after the Constitutional Convention of 1781. (I believe that is the year.) A lady walks up to him and ask, ” Mr. Franklin, What kind of country do we have?” Franklin answered, “We have a republic if we can keep it.” I hope not, but perhaps it is beginning to slip away from our grasp. The great “melting pot” is being stressed in all its seams.
