Reunion Stuff…. My spirit was renewed in Coal Fire Baptist Church last weekend. It was so nice to see all the cousins, well most of the cousins, all fairly healthy and in remarkable good spirits. The reception given my no. 2 grand daughter was awesome….Thank you for that cousins for it is a memory she will take with her forever. She hopes to come back some day and I hope she can, but if she does not what wonderful memories she will have….No. 2 Granddaughter stuff: I have asked KJH to do a guess post on this web site and she has agreed to do it…I am not sure when yet, but she will cover the reunion, some of out travel experiences and whatever comes to her mind. So keep coming back for her post…..Mt. Hope Cemetery Stuff…Just across the street from Coal Fire Baptist Church is the Mt. Hope Cemetery. My grand daughter took a picture or two of it. She pointed out the flag to me. A very large flag of the United States of America all tattered and torn, long strips of flag waving in the breeze. It is appalling and should be taken down until another good flag can be secured. I may write the Pickens County Herald if I can find no other means to contact someone about it. If any of you know someone let them or me know…….Weather stuff..The last two years I have been in Alabama in July the weather has been just gorgeous and my warning to kin folks traveling with me it has been like, “Paps, I think you are losing it.” The temperature and humidity have been better that New Mexico weather or at least as good. Hope I can keep that string of good things going…..Apache birth stuff..Apache children like to return to the point of their birth ever so often to renew their spirit as it is good for their soul they say. You know I agree. My brothers family own the land of my birth nowadays and I went to the very spot with no. 2 GD. My soul has been rekindled and maybe I can make it another year of two….New friend stuff…To the young lady that sat between No. 2 and me on the way to Dallas, Both of us think you are special and we think it was God’s plan for you to sit in that very seat. As we told you, she wanted the window and I wanted the aisle and someone else could have the middle. God saved it just for you. Good luck with your job and may God dearly bless you…..And, our seat mate from Dallas to Albuquerque was Casey O’Reilly, a student at the University of Texas – Arlington, the newest member of the Western Athletic Conference. Casey is a baseball player, a catcher and lead off hitter and a very nice guy. Casey it was good visiting with you my man and I hope you can keep that .358 average going and I hope to see you in the “bigs” some day..May God bless you also…Pete Hester

I liked your post. I really enjoyed the visit with you and Karrah. I will check back often for Karrah’s guest post. Maybe Karrah will visit Alabama again some day. 🙂
Thanks, Elisa, she sure would like to come back again. I hope to have her post pretty soon. Pete
Folks, I did write the Pickens County Herald about the Mt. Hope Cemetery Flag and they did publish my letter. My letter was not intended to sound mean spirited and I hope that it did not, however, it does deserve some attention…I hope it will be handled in any case….On KJH posting, it should be forcoming before too much longer….Stay tuned…Pete
Thanks for the post 🙂
