No. 2 granddaughter wrote the following post after returning from our Coal Fire, AL reunion. I think she did a good job and I am very pleased with her writings. I hope all of you enjoy what she has to say about our trip. Please click on the blue print. (Due to technical difficulties the attachments did not come through, er, pictures of the world coldest water of Coal Fire Creek. She repeated what I told her so we can’t say for certain that it is the World’s coldest water…..but it is dang close.)

Thanks for the opportunity to meet Pete’s granddaughter for the first time. It was neat to do so at the place where I will forever call home in the church where I was baptized in the creek, which, I agree, feels very cold on a hot July day after manually side dressing corn with nitrate of soda fertilizer; but it assure you that it is not the world’s coldest water to science and the thermometer. How do I know? I use to be able to jump into Coal Fire Creek completely necked and come out feeling refreshed and only a little blue. I was barely able to stick my toe into the rushing cold waters of the Pecos (north of Santa Fe) without it feeling as if it would freeze off. I didn’t get that far with the waters of the mountain streams of Colorado and Alaska. The waters of Coal Fire Creek is definitely not the world’s coldest water, but they are cold.
I stand by my world coldest vote…..
Like every politico under the sun, votes come from the subjective nature of the heart and do not necessarily have anything to do with objective truth, scientific, religious, or otherwise.
You say,,,,
I’ve had my feet in some Alaska streams, and I think Coal Fire creek is just as cold…..
Thanks, Dan, I never been to Alaska but I am sure you are right…..
Thank you #2 granddaughter for your reflection of your trip. I really enjoyed being with again after 15 years. You have grown into a beautiful, very enjoyable to talk to young lady. I felt as if I had known all your life. I know I will see you again in the future.
Thanks, Elisa, we enjoyed visiting with you and Dwight and with little Zoie. What a beautiful little girl she is.
