Snow….Brrrr

I had to work to get my paper this morning. There must have been 4 – 5 inches of snow in my driveway and the paper boy deposited the paper very near the street. Soooo, I went ahead and cleaned a trail from in front of the garage doors and front steps and porch, then a shovel wide trail out to the street. The efforts extended with all that work made the coffee that more enjoyable when I did get back in our nice, warm kitchen. It was not really all that cold, in the twenties, but tomorrow morning the forecast is for six degrees. I should probably dig another trail out to the street before this snow get frozen and hard. I know that tomorrow morning the paper boy will not hit the same area as this morning so I will get it dug out while the digging is good…..When I was younger I loved snow…Now, I don’t hate it, but shoveling snow is not my favorite thing to do. It does make you appreciate a good warm house a lot more, huh? I’m ready for spring, one snow storm is plenty……

Are you sure there is sufficient mosture in that strange, white, solid New Mexico Enchantment to freeze hard, even at six degrees? It was almost always my experience that the colder it got; the more powdery that strange stuff became. Occassionally there was wet snow, but usually it was that same ole dry, white, powdery stuff, which, I suppose, is good for skiing but it is not much good for snowball fighting. It use to make me hunger for snow ice cream the way that occassional snow in Alabama did, but I was told that it was too pollutted, and I guess it was, at least around Kirtland AFB, and I didn’t even know about the fuel spill then (only our irradiated sheep and dog carcasses), and all the nuclear war spinoffs that was being conducted in the area by the Air Force, Lovelace, and Sandia Corporation (now the National Lab). With all that was going on, I certainly didn’t care to eat any ice cream that was made ffrom the stuff.

Anyway, you be careful out there. That dry, white, powdery New Mexico wintry enchantment is not as heavy as the Alabama stuff, but I’m sure a 70+ year old can easily overdo it while shoveling the stuff.

Well, thanks for the concern. This was a wet snow and I did shovel all the driveway. Last night it got down to 6 degrees, but did not snow anymore, thank goodness….I am ready for the climate warming to continue….
