Getting Older

No. 2 son has just purchased a house…nice place but painting has been required….Painting just ain’t as easy as it used to be, is it? I was assigned the pantry yesterday….No. 2 son and no. 3 grandson would not let me get on the ladder so grandson did up high and I did mid-heights down, including underneath the lower shelf. You know, its a lot harder to get down than it used to be also and it is dang sure harder to get back up…….. At some point in time I think one begans to feel worthless….Well, I am not there yet, but close. I got home pretty early yesterday and Sweetie asked why I was home so early…I told her they laid me off…She laughed but we ran out of paint, having just enough for baseboards…And as shaky as I am they surely don’t want me doing baseboards…..One thing happened day before yesterday, No. 2 was coming down the ladder from cutting in his 12 foot ceilings and had placed the 5 gallon paint bucket too close to the ladder. Yeah, he did…he stepped in the paint bucket with his no. 12 shoe, then he grabbed the ladder to pull himself out of the bucket, pulling the ladder over on top of him, nearly, except no. 3 grandson caught it…No. 2 ended up on his back in the middle of the floor in  a pool of white paint on the carpet, surrounded by No. 3 gs and me….We were not laughing then as cleaning up that mess was the main thing….However, yesterday when we recounted the incident, we all had a good laugh over it. All is well that end well, the carpet cleaned up ok, the paint job looks great and no. 2’s “white” boot is now brown again…… Maybe I ain’t the only one getting older, huh son?…

All of your assistance is MUCH appreciated.

As #2 grand daughter I know that one should not laugh at the boot in the bucket of paint story; but I’m finding it difficult to see with the tears in my eyes… I had not yet heard that story and cannot wait to hear it told again in person.

This post sounds like a skit in a Fifties “Three Stooges” flick. It must have been hilarious. It could have been worse. It could have been black paint, or red, or even green.

You will probably hear the story a few times in the next few days, KJH. We are looking forward to making some memories in your new house also….And, yes, Errol, if video could have been made on that fall we would have submitted it to America’s funniest videos….probably could have won…

Number 1 son hates that he missed out on a good laugh. I am sure the clean up was not that much fun. At work we have to watch a 45 minute video on ladder safety before we are allowed to climb a ladder. The written test is one of the hardest to pass but its well worth the time. Glad to hear it all worked out in the end.

No. 1….you would have loved this..not the clean up…I think that was the whitest boot I have ever seen. Carpet was pretty white there for a while…It’s ok now…both the carpet and no. 2’s pride…
