Oklahoma did this!…Have you heard?

Posted by Pete | Posted in News | Posted on 07-05-2012

Have you heard that Oklahoma, 1) voted to place the Ten Commandents on the entrance to the state capitol?,and they did. 2) Recently passed a law in the state to incarcerate all illegal immigrants and ship them back home unless they want to get a green card and become an American citizen? 3) Passed a law to include DNA samples from any and all illegals to the Oklahoma database for criminal investigation purposes? 4) Passed a law declaring Oklahoma a Sovereign state, not under the Federal Government directives, joining Texas, Montana and Utah as the only states to do so. Other states looking at this are Louisiana, Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky, Missouri, Arkansas, West Virginia, Mississippi and Florida. 5) Passed a law confirming people have a right to bear arms and transport them in their vehicles? 6) Passed a law that all drivers license exams will be printed in English and only English and no other language. Since all the road signs are in English only, one must be able to read and write in English….Pretty smart folks up yonder in Oklahoma, huh?…..I think so too…..Pete

Hip! Hip! Hooray for the Okies! At least, they are doing something. I only have a problem with #4 (and possibility #6). As long as Oklahoma wishes to remain in a union of “sovereign” states, it is a member of that union, and it is not necessarily “sovereign”, at least not in all matters, particularly in dealing with foreign nations and in the area of immigration. It is (and must be ruled and bound) by the constitution of the United States. I also notice that all the other states mentioned are all states of the former Confederacy except for Missouri and West Virginia, both of which supplied more personnel and wealth to the Confederate cause than they did to the north. It does appear that we are setting ourselves up for another Great Divide in this country, except this one may be more than a mere two-way one. Come now! Let’s work together! Let’s at least elect a Congress that will abide by its constitutional mandate and pass a budget every year. Getting rid of King Barry and Prince Harry will be a step in the right direction.

As for #6, I resent a government, rather Federal, State, or Local, that gets into the business of mandating which language with which I choose to communicate. Please! Let us choose whichever language we need to communicate with whomever of our fellow men that we meet and choose to communicate with. We don’t have to become English or Spanish scholars; but, at least, let us acquire sufficient pigeon English or pigeon Spanish to communicate. In terms of typical government expentiture, it cost nothing to put road signs up in multiple languages.

Yes, let us choose….I choose English….

never heard of something like this.

Ever hear of the Civil War, between the North and the South? See Errol’s comments. I am sure there are new twists, but the message remains the same…States rights…
