Last year about this time I had received about 160,000 hits through June. This year so far I have had about 140,000 hits. The total visitors to the site are also down. You know, kind of makes me think my postings are not what they were last year, contents and quality…..Maybe, maybe not, but if you would drop me a line about the good and bad of hesterbooks.com I would appreciate it. Under each of the posting, click on read more, there is a place for comments. I would love to hear from all of you…..I want to keep all of you as readers so improvements or any changes I need to make, with in reason of course, I will consider. Improvements in grammar, for example, may be difficult. Other than that is  what I’m talking about…Ok?   Pete

Your drop in total hits likely has nothing to do with hesterbooks.com. If the truth was known, I bet the kind of drop that you are experiencing is pretty consistent across the entire internet except for a few exceptions. The newness of the internet has worn thin. Although people are still using it, and they probably always will use it because it has become as necessary to life in the modern world as the Post Office and the Pony Express were in previous centuries, many people have come to realize that there are othen things in life that are important as well. There is a difference between surfing the internet when the internet was new to find out what is there and a deliberate, concerted use of the internet to accomplish a particular purpose and task that is necessary to everyday living. The internet is here to stay. Internet sites will come, and they will go. The ones that are enduring are the ones that provide something that is essential to people in their everyday lives. Successful and enduring internet sites are much like successful and enduring TV shows. Of course, there will always be a few like an enduring successful soap that never dies and never ends and that no one ever really cares much about; but, even there, it will have to provide something that a lot of people want. You can always rename your site, “As the World Turns”, then it would never die until the world seized turning at which time no one would care.
