I was really touched to see the demonstrators carrying their flags down the streets of California protesting about their rights to earning citizenship in the United States, showing their loyalty, love and support. Only thing, they were all carrying Mexican flags. So what do these guys and girls want: Mexican government in the USA or citizenship in the USA and then have the United States adopt the flag of Mexico, or is there some other agenda behind the Mexican flags they carry?…..How can we not support these people who love the USA so much? I am really touched…..And you????? Pete

These are the army of General Santa Ana resurrected. The ghost of Santa Ana has sent them to take back what the general says is rightfully his and that was wrongfully taken from him during the Mexican War. They have no desire to assimulate into the current American culture, speaking English with Anglo Saxon values; instead, they wish to live in an America where their language is dominant and Spanish culture abounds. If this was not true, then the demonstrators would be carring American flags, and they would be marching in lockstep toward the nearest English language training center. They want their paychecks and their things. They could care less about ours. A large influx of Spanish speaking people will be impossible to assimulate for the simple reason that they do not won’t to be assimulated. General Santa Ana was a smart and crafty general, but his army lacked the disciplene to win wars. These are the army of Santa Ana’s vanquished ones, who are just about as undisciplined, but who has the determination to expand from their impovshed land to a land flowing in milk and honey, vanguishing the inhabitants, and establishing their own language and culture.
Well, I don’t know anything about General Santa Ana or his army. I was hoping one of the marchers from the California protest would sign in and give us some insight into the reasons for the march and the reason for the Mexican flags. Surely, surely there must be some rationale behind carrying Mexican flags in America when wanting to be granted US citizenship. I mean, they know the world is watching via television. Kind of sending mix siginals to the rest of the world is what I’m thinking. Maybe one of them will enlighten us. It’s over my head…..
I have just done my best to enlighten your readers. The marchers in California are not interested in becoming citizens of a United States of America, which has a dominant Anglo Saxon white culture. They are only interested in re-making that culture and our nation into one more like their own where the Spanish language, culture, and Catholic religion are dominant. All Hispanics are not like many, if not most of the Hispanics from Mexico. I am married into a large Hispanic (Spanish derivative) family from the Philippines. Every one of them, as well as so many of their fellow countrymen came to this country speaking English (in many cases better than me). They came with the intention of bettering themselves economically and not to re-make our country in their own image. Although they have a dominant Catholic religion also, they have used it the way it should be used to produce strong, closely knit nuclear families that will make the typical American family hang its head in shame. This could be the case of the typical Mexican Hispanic as well, but it is not because the fault is mostly ours (and our government) for not controlling our southern border and establishing an immigration policy and means to citizenship that is both enforceble and sustainable. It is impossible to produce good citizens with a blanket amnesty. Good citizenship requires a lifetime of commitment with an immigration process that requires 10 to 30 years to progress from the initial application through a green card to full citizenship. Even then, this “full citizenship” is not natural born citizenship. It will not (and should not) give them the right to become President of the United States, which constitutionally requires full “natural born” citizenship. Therefore, Barry, Arnold Swarzennegger, and President Nixon’s Secretary of State are not eligible. At least, Barry is not eligible until he proves his “naturalborn citizenship” status, which he has not to date, except in the minds of the liberal mainstream Media who will believe anything if it suits their agenda.
Thanks, but I still would like to hear from one of the marchers.
Perhaps I will just have to go to California and march, then you will have heard from one of them. For that matter, we have just returned from California, but I was too busy pushing the wheelchair of a 92-year-old gentleman, who was originally from the Phillippines (and one of the few members of the greatest generation left), to worry about any marchers in the street, especially since there were no marchers where we were in northern California. It may be difficult for a Hispanic marcher from Mexico to respond on this English language website because most of them do not speak English and do not really care to learn it very well, and they write it even less well. Any English speaking Hispanic from Mexico that one may fine to answer your question will likely have been in this country for a while without having learned his English in the home country, and educated by our educational system, thus having an altered and learned opinion about the adopted country. For these reasons, you may just have to go with my response to your questions.
