New Mexico License…”Dearly Beloved..”

If you come to New Mexico and want a hunting license there are some very strict guidelines that must be followed…..specific area’s of your hunt….a drawing on some licenses…out of state license….and of course, seasons of the hunt….for fishing licenses, you can get one no problem, even temporary, but you need a valid drivers license….Driver’s license is what you want, well, we probably can get one, but you need to show some local address and some bills verifying that you live at that address. Oh, its a marriage license you want, uh, same sex, well, its not exactly legal but we will go ahead and fix you up. That’s ok as we can worry about legality later. “What you say you want to hunt  elk while you are here on your honeymoon!!!!. Are you crazy? There are some things we just will not do. I cannot believe you just asked me that.” I love New Mexico, always have. It’s exciting…….Pete

The enchanted state is the Land of Enchantment. I would say to all newcomers that it takes a while; but, if you can put up with the first year without going crazy, the place will grow on you. Here lately, though, with the enchanted experiment with same sex marriages, it might take something more than a year. Good science is slow science. It will eventually grow on you.

Yeah, you are right. It took me about two years, but then I’m a slow learner…..Pete

Whoops! It took me a year, and I thought I was a slow learner; but, then, during that first year, I walked everywhere I went. Walking allows one to get closer to the environment and really suck it in allowing one to become acclimated much more quickly. When bicycling, going up the mountain is a tough pill, but the trip back down is a fantastic experience when the enchanted wind (with some solid enchantment) burns away the perspiration leaving beautiful crystals of pure salt and purges out the lungs. What a place! There is no other like it on God’s green earth although one must sometime look for the green.
