Vallecito Reservoir, Colo

The water level is so high at Vallecito that it is about to lap over into Croll Cabin’s property. The extra water is playing havoc with the leach field of their septic tanks. The wind picked up a couple of days while we were there causing the water to splash over the berm that protects the property. They have a new Dam Master up there and he apparently does not think about any damage the high water level may be causing. Here is a picture of his sign from this year. If you scroll down the page you will see last year and how low it was. This water is used for irrigation for the Southern Ute Tribe and they are not needing the water just yet. They really need to do something with the excess. A good rain up in those mountains surrounding the reservoir would be a killer.
