Serial Killer on Essex Street

I have mentioned several times that I feed and water birds in my back yard. This provides a buffet for a dang old Cooper Hawk. He gets up in the pine tree in my back yard and attacks an unsuspecting victim while they are watering or feeding. He is only doing what the Lord put him on earth to do, and I kind of accept that, but I am very sympatric to the smaller birds. Once he zero’s in on his prey it’s pretty much over. He is very fast and very silent. In mere seconds he leaves his perch and has the prey in his talons. And he goes back up into the tree to eat his meal spreading the feathers all over my yard. He is not there every day, but pretty regular.. See if you can see this killer perched in my back yard pine tree….click to enlarge..(click on the second branch up at the fork and you can see him)PS… Go to   www.wildlife.state.nm.us   for a nice article on Cooper Hawks…Good articles on transplanting wildlife and fowl in NM and Arizona…Also articles on fishing in NM during the drought…branson trip with phyllis 084
