Calvary Nudist Baptist Church/updated Sept 20

Well, just about the time I think I have heard it all, along comes this….I don’t even know what to write about such…First thing that comes to mind though is how do they disinfect the church pews? And does the preacher use a pointer? Do the women bounce when they sing?  Do they do foot washings? I noticed when reading their web site that the congregation is not to undress in the parking lot…They undress in the foyer, near the  closet….If you can think of something to say, let me know…I am dumbfounded….I was going to say its a crazy world, but you already know that…..If you want to attend, its: Calvary Nudist Baptist Church, 3420 Kilgore Road, Tyler, TX 75708….Let me know if they are going to have a Camp Meeting…

Note: updated 9/20/09….There is a Calvary Baptist Church in Tyler…Some have suggested that this nudist church is not really a Christian church at all and I would suspect as much…My fellow believers and I believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and we try to obey all his teachings….I really do not think Christ condons such behavior, do you? But He does forgive such behavior….

Calvary Nudist Baptist Church in Tyler, Texas!!! Hmmm! Hmmm! That is close to Arkansas. That should be a good place to do some missionary work.

It’s not real guys. Sorry to disappoint. Some shmuck must have got teed off at someone and put his picture on the bogus website. See the news release below.

David, thanks for writing…I’m glad it is not for real and I for one am not disappointed…If it were true, then I would really be disappointed…All of us need that place we can turn to in time of need and I do not want any more problems than we already have…We appreciate your input…Pete

Holy Cow! Oh I mean Holy noodle! This church seem to me like an awful of adultery and fornication would be going on here! Put some clothes on people! God loves you dressed as well, in fact I think he would almost prefer it!

We think this is a hoax, Lisa….Can’t say for sure…I am pretty sure that it is…World has enough problems without nudism in a church….just ain’t Kosher….Thanks for the comment..Pete

Excellent site. It was pleasant to me.,

It is the coolest site, keep so!,

I am disappointed that it is not real. I am a nusit and a Christian, and think it would be great to worship as we were created. It wasn’t untill AFTER Adam and Eve were separated from God that they wore clothers. When they were communing daily with Him, walking in in presence (His physical presence, no less), “they were naked AND THEY KNEW NO SHAME.” It was not untill AFTER the fall that they put fig leaves on and God made clothes for them. If God created them naked, and said that they were in His image, and that “it was good,” then why is being nude in a non-sexual context wrong? Admittedly, if a person is naked for purposes of sexuality, aside from a man and wife in their bedroom (ie. porn), that is clearly wrong. No arguments there at all. But how can God’s creation, as He created it and blessed it, be called wrong or shameful or dirty?

Mispelling in previous post. “nusit” was meant to be nudist. My apologies

I appreciate you taking the time to write. I could never go any where nude, especially church…That is just not me…I guess I just think of nudity as sexual and church and sex just don’t mix…I appreciate your comments and we certainly do not have to agree to express ourselves here…Thanks for coming by. Pete Hester

If I may,I concur with the Nudist who posted here. God is not ashamed of our bodies. We are. In fact, Jesus had to unclothe himself in front of Thomas to show the spear wound in his side. The robes which Jews wore were similar to the robes worn by Middle Eastern people today. Jesus also suffered for mankind in the nude. It was to suffer shame, but we are commanded to go outside the camp and to suffer shame for the sake of the Gospel with him,for in him, we all die to the world. I believe that nudity in Christian worship represents stripping off the weights which beset us and putting off all the fleshly, carnal distinctions we hold onto in the world.
By the way, nudists are not necessarily fornicators or adulterers. This is a misconception.
Oh,and about sex…
If we are the bride of Christ, then it’s obvious that sex is central to the covenant relationship. In fact, this is the point of communion. In this act we take in the DNA of Christ. It is for this reason we are called to be a chaste virgin (as a church). It is so that Christ, and only Christ, is given birth in our hearts. This is the parallel relationship of marriage in the flesh and in the Spirit. Are you really going to say sex should not be discussed in church? It is one of God’s greatest gifts!(seriously!)

Well, you present a little different take than what I am used to hearing. However, it is your opinion and I’m glad you shared it with us here. Even though this is “my front porch” so to speak, I believe we are all entitled to have a say on the subject. Speaking of sex discussion in church, it certainly should be discussed but in the framework of what the bible has to say about sex between a married man and woman. Certainly, it should be taught and discussed, as well as sexual immorality. Thanks for bringing this subject up again.

Perhaps the difficulty here is merging the terms “nudist” and “Baptist” … Baptists are known for being more conservative and prudish than most other denominations, and some such as the Unitarian Universalists and Quakers have a much higher toleration for the beauty of nudism. Those of us who practice such lifestyles are NOT into immorality and sex and the like; as others have noted, God created us nude and it is true that nudists have lower levels of sexual misbehavior than the population at large.
