Wow, how nice for the Navajos. Running water…Some of the Navajo children think that water comes from the back of a pickup truck…they have hauled it for years…a 260 mile pipeline from the San Juan River to Gallup, through the Navajo Nation…Cost about 864 million…Bush would not do it because of the high cost…No problem for Obama..I did not have running water as a child so I am glad they are getting it…It is a high cost, but water is so necessary for us and its not like they chose to live there. And it is not like they can dig a well as the ground water is very brachish, if there is any there at all..Years ago the United States Government said this is where we have assigned you Navajo’s to live…I have driven though that part of the world for years and I have always sympathized with the Navajo people about the harsh country they live in. I am happy for them and it should have been started years ago. Construction could began as early as 2012…Now, speaking of water, can we build a pipeline or aquaduct from the Mississippi River from down near New Orleans to Southern New Mexico and El Paso area? All we need to do is capture the flood waters only and pump those deadly flood waters to reservoirs in the desert. Folks down in the New Orleans area are sitting 21 feet, at places, below the level of the Mississippi River and are scared to death that the levees could break, especially during flooding…Folks out here, especially in El Paso, are scared to death they are not going to have enough water for the growing population..Someone should figure out that we can use bad at one spot to do good at another spot. Ok, here’s the deal, pickle….Take all the unemployed, homeless, welfare recipents, and illegal aliens and give each one a shovel and have them start digging…It may take a while, but we can get it dug and solve a whole lot of our problems while we are digging….Tell your congressman or congresswoman about it and maybe we can get something done….let me know, ok?…

Pete.
Come now! The Navejo have lived in the Southwestern desert long before George W. Bush. Don’t blame Bush for everything. You have been around your Governor Bill too long. Of Course, climate does change. The Southwestern desert may not have always been desert. The Navejo people seem to love their climate and their way of life if only the late coming Americans would leave them alone. What is the difference in water from the back of a pick up truck, and water out of a pipeline. People all across this land (and perhaps the world) are opting to purchase and consume water from a contaminated plastic botter rather than consume water (for drinking) from the pipes that go into their homes.
As far as your idea about piping water from the Mississippi to the Southwest is concerned, I had that idea way back in the late 1960’s. It wouldn’t fly then, and it won’t fly now. What would it do to the oyster beds and the crabbing in south Louisiana. All the lawyers and engineers in the world, even if you throw in a few dumb chemist, could’t write an environmental impact statement for that one. Even if they did, it would be bigger than Obama’s healthcare bill.
The Navajo lived in the desert, true, but they were nomads and could go to where the water was at the time. Long before Bush, the American people decided where the Navajo would live and if they left the reservation, they were rounded up and returned..I know that was long ago and I am not blaming Bush or any other President. We are bringing water into Albuquerque from Farmington, about the same number of miles, and pumping it into our underground water supply. Are we that much more important than the Navajo? There is simply more of us with more money and more influence. Build one less F-35 and the pipeline is paid for…That said, if the Navajo’s casino is successful (it is less than a year old) they can probalby pay for it themselves…I am not a liberal, in spite of some of my postings lately, but I do think the Native Americans, from the East coast to the West coast, got the royal shaft long ago from us white boys…..and on the flood water down around New Orleans, we would just get the water that would be of potential harm to the city, pump it out to the dang old Navajos and let the crabs crawl up the bayou…are wherever crabs crawl….Thanks for keeping me on my toes…Pete
