Marilyn Larner Hicks/Peter M. Van Winkle/And Thanks

I had a nice e-mail from Marilyn Hicks. I remember her from years ago as she was putting her Peter M. Van Winkle book together, gathering all the genealogies. And after telling her I belonged to Helen Van Winkle Hester, she remembered me or maybe dug me up from her files, etc..Anyway, today I decided to google Marilyn Larner Hicks and I found some good stuff. Among the items was “Van Winkle Mill Archaeological Project” with some pictures and credits from all the work put into that effort, including thanks to Ms. Hicks…. Van Winkle family members,  you need to visit that web site if you have not already and I am sorry to say that today was my first visit….And also, let me say to the University of Arkansas students and all those folks who labored there, you did such a tremendous job on that project, thank you, thank you from all of us on Helen Van Winkle’s side of the family. What a blessing to see my wife and daughter make the stroll down that lovely pathway, back into history, seeing and feeling what her ancestors had felt and to fill our hearts and minds with the visual information you have uncovered and made known. Your work is certainly appreciated. I hope to visit again soon with others from our family…. Pete Hester
