You know folks, at some point in time the University of New Mexico has got to consider playing football….not fighting…The lack of control in the locker room would most certainly affect players performance and attitude on the field….Coach, number one: teach the fundamentals of the game, two, give the boys good offense plays, a good run and pass defense, three, choose the best player you have for each position and then four, step aside and let them play…It is not that complicated….teams with far less talent than you are winning some of the time…You may have as high as 5 all conference players on your team right now…Play football coach…Go Lobos….

Doesn’t this apply to the Loboes soccer team as well? It seems that Elizabeth Lambert should study Pete’s blog in “Sportmanlike Conduct 101”. Now I know what it was that was going on back in the late Sixties when I would walk from Kirtland AFB down to the UNM campus and watch these strange people running up and down the field kicking a white round ball. Why they would never catch the ball and run with it? They didn’t want that ole ball. They were simply learning how to fight. I learned quickly what a strange place this “enchanted land” was. Somehow I had went to sleep and made a wrong turn and had removed myself from “God’s country”, otherwise known as Alabama.

No doubt Alabama is God’s country. You and I will always love it and consider it very special. The “Land of Enchantment” is also some of God’s country and those of us fortunate enough to live here feel very blessed. I cannot comment on soccer as I know nothing about it. But they have the Western Regional Championship here, almost annually, and there are literally thousands of folks here for that. So, some people know about it, that’s for sure. Thanks Errol.
