Gee, you know the Dec. 21, 2012 date came and went, nothing happened and it makes you kinda feed disappointed, huh? Several of us been waiting to see the poles reverse or the Almighty’s hand  slap the earth very hard issuing a wake up call to all it’s citizens and none of that seemed to have happened, on that day at least. However, this writer thinks that the Almighty’s hand warns  everyday of things to come. If you read the article by Alan Bonner, then you know of the warnings issued from the bible relating to today’s events world wide, the end is close. Many of us believe that the end times are very close indeed, which could mean tomorrow or many, many, years from now, but it will happen. The exact date will forever remain unknown. Sir Issac Newton said that it would be 2060 or later and he insist that it will not end before 2060. Sir Issac used the bible to make his predictions and I thought it was interesting how he put the dates, ie, “no sooner than but anytime after 2060”. That is unique, huh? A friend of ours says it will not happen until our Jewish friends start rebuilding the temple in  Jerusalem, over the exact spot it was originally. Oh, well, that’s where the Muslim temple is located and it ain’t gonna happen without a big fight. So some of you can enlighten me on that one also. It’s kinda funny, being an old man, seems like I would know a lot of these things…but the older I get the less I know. I have waited on the Lord to tell me these things a long time now, so I suppose the best thing for me to do is listen…ok, I’m listening Lord……Pete

Merry Christmas to all of my readers. I hope your Christmas has been as bright and merry as ours. Number two son and his family had us out  for a wonderful dinner and gift exchanging evening. What a pleasant evening….Sweetie and I did not have to do any work on the meal and Sweetie mentioned  on the way home about how nice that was. And instead of the 6-6-6 devils flank steaks he fixed 7-7-7 heavenly steaks. In case you have not heard of them, you cook flank steaks seven minutes on one side, seven minutes on the other side and then let it cool 7 minutes before slicing  thinly and serving. Of course when you make the devils steaks you do it with the 6, but if I were you I would alter one of the numbers on the devils to just be, er,  shall we say, devilish and keep old Satan away…well, consider the source, that’s just me, ok….we took some pictures in number two son’s living room and I wanted to show you this one wall of his living room. These crosses are all unique, No. 2 son made some, number two and number three grand sons made some and a couple were special gifts, but all have their story. (My pictures are not transferring to the hesterbooks posting for some reason. I have called on  a grand child to research the problem, perhaps the problem can be resolved soon. Dec. 23, 2012, 5pm, our spring on one of our garage door broke…It was on the side we use most. It’s probably going to be after Christmas before someone will come out to take a look at it, huh?….Well, not so, Mr. Clem Gutierrez of American Overhead Door, was out here at 9 am this morning and almost before you could say, “how you doing” he had the new spring installed and the door operating again. And the price was very reasonable. That was nice of him, huh, Christmas Eve and he does not mind working on our garage door. If you are in the Albuquerque area and need some garage door work, give him a call a 505-263-5432….He does good work at a good price…

I am a Republican, I think, or  at least I thought so last month. But come on guys, we lost, the Democrats won and America has said what they want, at least the majority of them did. So, Mr. Boehner, try to work with Mr. Obama and try to not take America off the Fiscal Cliff. This is Dec 21, 2012 and we are still here, so we survived that, but can we survive a fall such as we will have to endure after our fall. We will have lots less trouble if we just go ahead and work some things out now. You guys in congress are something else, do you know that, and putting the American citizens through a lot more than we should be put through. Enough is enough……Turn it loose Mr. Boehner and work through things before they happen, ok?…..Dang, what do the citizens need to do to wake you guys up?…Do you live in our world?…Come on…..

Poinsettia Bowl, BYU and San Diego State…BYU favored but Bronco’s old boss beats him by a touchdown….Beef O”Brady favors U of Central Florida over Ball State but seems to me that Ball State is gonna win this one, so I’m picking them.  The New Orleans Bowl favors La-Lafayette over E. Carolina and I favor them also in a close one. Las Vegas Bowl, Boise State vs Washington, Boise St is favored and they will win this one.  Hawaii Bowl has Fresno St playing SMU and Coach Jones is going to get beat when he returns to Hawaii…Sorry Coach…..I have spoken so now all I have to do is cross my fingers…..Honestly folks, please don’t put any money on my picks…thanks, I didn’t figure you would but I wanted to be safe and tell you anyway….Pete

I am not sure I am the one to present this message but maybe a more forceful and stronger voice can try and make my point. Have you watched what your child is watching on tv and at the movies, all the shootings, crimes of all sorts, mayhem, cruel situations of all kind. Our children grow up with that information in front of them daily, go out and do some of the things, those violent things they have watched on tv or in the movies turning loose their imaginations, and the guns get the blame for it. Every NRA member in the world and those of us that are not NRA members feel terrible about what is happening in our world and literally cry we feel so badly that these things happen. But they know what I know, its not the guns, it is the twisted world in which we live. We, as parents, let out children watch that crap from the time they are toddlers until they are young adults and some of them believe it, they try to emulate it, it looks so exciting on tv, they can do it they feel…..Yeah, lets blame the gun and lack of gun control until only the crooks have the guns and then everything will be ok….Another movie plot is exactly what you are asking for with that attitude, that we will live happily ever after…..Folks, all our hearts are heavy with these precious people dying in Newtown and all the other places this is happening….But, it AIN”T the guns, I’m sorry, but it ain’t the guns….Give America one generation with no violence on tv or the movies and I promise you a better, safer, saner America…..Pete

Per the Albuquerque Journal, Dec 13, 2012 by T. S. Last “Arroyo Cleanup Irks Federal Agency……..

Back up on New Mexico Highway 14 Peter Smith cleaned up an arroyo, removed debris and dead trees and dumped garbage, cleared out salt cedars and cleaned up the arroyo with his tractor and bush hog. Shortly thereafter he received a certified letter from the U. S. Army Corp of Engineers stating he was in violation of the Clean Water Act because of the clean up on about 150 yards of the arroyo. This was in June 2011. Mr. Smith stated he thought there was some mistake. But no, it was no mistake as the Corp was saying the Gallina Arroyo was “jurisdictional waters on your property” and was water of the United States. Further cleanup on this arroyo requires a permit and if they did not get said permit legal action would be taken. Guess what, the Smith’s beat them to the punch and took legal action against the Corp of Engineers. Jennifer Fry, attorney for the Smith’s says that “we are aiming to stop federal regulators from becoming national zoning board with unlimited control over land use”……You can read the complete article in todays Albuquerque Journal…..But I agree as this little arroyo is 25 miles or so from the Rio Grande and I don’t see how it could effect the Clean Water Act as except for a major rain or snow storm, it never has water….Wow, but why should we be surprised as these folks are here from the government and they “are here to help”…..Good luck Mr. Smith….Pete Hester

The New Mexico Bowl will feature Arizona playing Nevada this year. This kicks off the bowl season and it should be a good one. My grand daughter is a Wildcat graduate and a big fan as is her dad, husband and grand dad. So my heart says Arizona, and the bookies say Arizona by 7, but my head says Nevada…Nevada is the better team I think….so Nevada by 3….UPDATE…What a game, Arizona 49 – Nevada 48…I quite watching with 2 minutes left and Arizona trailing by 10 points…Then I heard AZ won…I missed the ball game, huh? Must have been an outstanding game.

Same day, Dec. 15, we have the Famous Idaho Potato Bowl with Utah State playing Toledo. Utah State is favored by seven and that’s about the way I see it also. Toledo played some good ball this year but I did not watch any of their games. I watched two games with Utah State, they impressed me and I think they will take it.
