An old friend came into town tonight and invited me and the boss out to supper. The boss could not make it so I went. I worked with him about twenty years ago. He has not aged one bit during that period. How is it some of us get old and decrepit and some of us just seem to stay the same forever. I have no hair and he still wears a crew cut…That’s kind of like adding insult to injury, him having all that hair….But, the best thing about it all was that he has not changed on the inside either…He was a good friend twenty years ago and he was that same good friend today. Makes one feel good, does it not, to renew old acquaintances and they are just like when you left the conversation from your last visit…Maybe not quite like that, but close, you know what I mean..Anyway, it was a very pleasant evening, shared with a good friend over some good food, reminiscing about the good old days….An evening like that is hard to beat, huh?…

I did not watch the awards show last night, but the boss did and so I could hear a lot of it. I asked her if she saw George? Not Strait, but Jones…No, she did not see him…..I wonder about Reba, was she there? I kind of wish I had watched to see who all was not there. I told the boss, “well, I heard Charlie Daniels, so he must have been there.” No, she says, that was another band playing a Charlie Daniels song……So, I am kind of sad today…Brooks and Dunn, Alabama, Sadler Brothers, The Oak Ridge Boys, George Jones, just to name a few….All gone I guess, but guys, if you happen to read this, I miss you….I really do….”I’ve had good days….. and bad days,…. but when the day is though, ….I alllllwwwayyyssss get lucky with you”….George, the boss and I especially miss you my friend…….

I am sure many will disagree with me and that’s ok. But some of you will agree with me.
I think America was founded on Christian principals. The Ten Commandants are our guidelines for many if not all of our laws. We came to America to be free to worship as we please, but “as we pleased” was a Christian foundation. All of our states have also stated an allegiance to God, Our God, The God of the Jews, of the Gentile and yes, the Origins of Everything in this world and the hereafter. Because of our founding fathers vision and the writing of our Constitution, God has protected us and built a hedgerow of protection around us. Our Forefathers and including most of us, at some point in time, have chosen “Whom we will Serve”. We do not apoligize for it. It was the right thing to do, in the day of Joshua, in the day of our Founding Fathers and on up until today. It is time for a recommittment, I believe, to choose this day “whom you will serve” and “as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit. I don’t mind sharing America with anyone, but I am not willing to give up ONE OUNCE of the FREEDOMS my Forefathers have bled and died for…..Never, Ever….

Be sure and thank every veteran you can this November 11, the day we have set aside to honor our veterans, and let them know how much we appreciate all they have done for America. It is no easy task no matter where they are stationed, on land or on sea, they toil 24 hours every day to protect us and keep our country safe. Thank you, servicemen and servicewomen and may God Bless each of you.

Who came up with a term like taxi squad?…..Remember Mickey McBride? Mr. McBride owned the Cleveland Browns in the 1940 and 1950 and when Paul Brown was his coach during those years, he wanted some extra guys available just in case someone got hurt. Mr. McBride also owned a taxi company. So, 5 men practiced with the team daily but their salaries were paid by the taxi company, even though they never drove a cab. They became known as the Taxi Squad….On this day in history, November 10, 1972, Mickey McBride died, leaving behind among a lot of other things, the Cleveland Browns and our famous national football league…… taxi squads…..

Readers, here is my question. Having read my posts over a period of time, do you feel you know me or anything about me? I’m not talking about my very inner most self, but about my outward nature and what my general make up as a person is….I think you do…The things I write about and the way I say things are a dead give away to who I am…..How could a major in the United States Army, subject to many interviews by his superiors, slip through the interviews and testings and all of that to end up shooting our young soldiers and doing it on an Army Post? There is such a thing as letting people get away to too much, us being too politically correct, don’t you think….Seems to me like someone should have smelled something fishy about that guy many, many, months ago…What are we missing?…I suppose it was his uniform, huh?…We just naturally respect that, don’t you reckon?

Did you watch the videos from the UNM vs BYU Ladies Soccer game? The young lady from New Mexico who was pulling hair, hitting players in the back with her elbow, doing all sorts of things. She may have been training under the football coach…. Things just have a way of spreading around, don’t they? I think she may be as mean as she is tough and Coach may not want to mess with her….She might make you a good linebacker, coach…What do you think?

Dionicio E.”Lonnie” Zamora, age 76, has died. You may remember him as the state policeman who saw the oval shaped UFO on the ground just south of Socorro, four legs sticking out from the craft with two small characters dressed in white standing outside the craft. One of the characters, jerked and appeared scared when he saw Lonnie. Both were scrambling into the craft and Lonnie hid behind his patrol car. When he next looked the legs were withdrawn and the craft was about twenty feet off the ground making a whirling sound. Then the sound stopped and the craft darted off toward the west. Over the years Mr Zamora story never changed according to reports from family and friends and the policeman had an excellent reputation. I remember the story reported in the newspaper about the time it happened. I was impressed with it all then, but never followed up on it, but I always remembered it. I thought about it anytime the subject of UFOs came up. Then, this morning I read about Mr. Zamora”s passing. My condolences to the family and I know they will miss him. I understand he was a deeply religious man and the family is very glad for that. I can’t help but wonder if the secrets of the universe has been revealed to Mr. Zamora at this time or if it is not important in the hereafter when we enter our heavenly home….I would like to think that it all has been revealed to him, don’t you?……

My concussion stirred up some comments. Both on safety and ladders and saying our prayers on a daily basis. I hope I have learned my lesson about ladders but it is hard to completely get away from ladders. Sooooo, my friends, we just have to be extra careful as we climb, huh? About the prayers. I remember laying on my back moaning and groaning trying to tell my boss what happened. (She may have been ready to fire me for laying down on the job until she saw the blood, I’m kidding of course). But, do you remember me telling you that I had decided to read the bible cover to cover for 2009. Well, I’m in Romans. This morning I read Romans 8: 26 which states: “In the same way, the Spirit helps in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express.” I think He may have interceded Saturday morning and may have interpreted some of my groans….What do you think????

Does it seem like to you the folks who voted for change may now be wondering if the change they voted for is the change they got? I guess it all depends on who’s doing the talking as to what change means. Seems like some folks are now voting republicians back into office already. I guess that’s about change too, huh? Saying change is a lot different than making change I reckon……
