A quarterback controversy at both schools. State is 1-2 and New Mexico is 0 – 3, so the dad-gum old qb gets blamed for it all, at both schools. So, here’s the deal, pickle….New Mexico is going to alternate quarterbacks….I guess that’s ok if you are unsure who is the better of the two…One or two games should determine that, huh?….Down at State its a different story. The receivers have been dropping the ball so they are going to change qb’s….You read it correctly…Does the other quarterback put stick’um on the ball….Coach, please explain yourself…It’s no wonder some of our young ball players are confused…There is probably an “Aggie” joke in there somewhere, but both those coaches are having enough problems right now, so I will drop it there…One of these coaches will win this week, making the qb decision a good decision…..I still hope they both have good seasons, don’t you?…….

Seems like I am surprised by something nearly every day anymore. Listen to this: State Rep. Karen Giannini defeated Republican Justine Fox-Young for a seat as New Mexico State Representative and raised only $675.00 in campaign contributions. She was the only one running in the state primary election and spent little running against Fox-Young. She said she knew a lot of the local school people and the labor people and that was it. She went to sleep election night trailing Fox-Young and woke the next morning the victor. Amazing….absolutely amazing….We vote for the party not the person, don’t we…I am sure Rep. Giannini is a fine upstanding young woman, but 675.00. That’s not enough for stamps, is it? ….She is looking for contributions now, however, so one wonders about the next election….well, for that or for whatever they use campaign contributions for….

Today is the first day of fall…It was 46 degrees at our place this morning. Pretty dog-gone chilly…. I postponed some weed pulling in the front flower bed until afternoon…It was warm by then and I was kind of thinking that with a light jacket, maybe morning work would have been better…You just don’t know, do you?…What one should do is wait until the dead of winter, then the dang weeds would be dead from frost bite and then I could tell the boss, “I’ll get’um come spring and warm weather.” Do you think that will work?….yeah, well, me neither…

Health Insurance: My question is this, if folks can’t afford health insurance today, how can they afford it when Mr. Obama makes it mandatory? And if he turns it over to the IRS for collection is it not a tax?.. I guess I am so dumb….I do not get it….Well, I hope you guys know!!!
Landry Jones: Hey, one bright spot for us New Mexican..This young man from Artesia, NM and back up quarterback to Sam Bradford of The University of Oklahoma was named Big 12 Conference Offensive Player of the Week for his six touchdown passes last week. His coach, Bob Stoops says Landry is “nothing but consistent and solid.” We are proud of you, Landry.
Former Mexican President Vicente Fox: In a speech yesterday at the University of New Mexico said that he, “decries the wall being built between Mexico and America.” You bet he does… because Mexico does not have to provide for the citizens who can sneak into America and get jobs and send the money back to Mexico to be spent, and they can get their benefits at American hospitals and our welfare programs and probably biggest of all, America buys all the drugs that can come across a “leaky” Border. By the way, UNM paid him $25,000 to hear that crap. If the Mexican can come into out country legally, I am all for them…We know several who are here legally and they are wonderful, warm and hard working people…I know most of you feel the same way…
Thanks for listening. Pete

Lobos lost….Aggies lost….Greyhounds won…But did you know the Aggie – UTEP Miners games was posponed due to lightening, a break of three hours or so….The extra rest didn’t help though..Next week, the Aggies or the Lobos will win…mark it down…one of them will win since they are playing each other….But how about our fellow New Mexican Landry Jones? Tossed six touchdown passes for Oklahoma.Wonder if Landry will start the Miami game next week?..Artesia folks should be real proud of that boy..I am sure that they are…You know what I think? I don’t think Florida will get through this year undefeated…TCU now has to be the Mountain West’s only shot at the BCS this year. They have Clemson, SMU and Air Force back to back, then Colorado State…Colorada State is undefeated but next week it is BYU for them so we will see..Man, I sure hate New Mexico is not in the mix this year, yet…Do you think we have any chance?….Yeah,… me neither….

You remember me talking about 42, a game of domino’s, awhile back and about my bud-in-law and I whipping up on our girls pretty bad? You remember that post? Well, guess what our women said and I think its kind of bad for a couple of Baptist ladies…Please don’t tell them I told you what they said….. They said they were going to have to get a “new can of whip-a- -” cause their can had expired. I cannot believe they said that….However, it may be true, but don’t you tell them I told…ok…I really didn’t know it would expired cause their present can has lasted for so long…..Well, maybe so, cause we have been beating them bad lately…..

Well, just about the time I think I have heard it all, along comes this….I don’t even know what to write about such…First thing that comes to mind though is how do they disinfect the church pews? And does the preacher use a pointer? Do the women bounce when they sing? Do they do foot washings? I noticed when reading their web site that the congregation is not to undress in the parking lot…They undress in the foyer, near the closet….If you can think of something to say, let me know…I am dumbfounded….I was going to say its a crazy world, but you already know that…..If you want to attend, its: Calvary Nudist Baptist Church, 3420 Kilgore Road, Tyler, TX 75708….Let me know if they are going to have a Camp Meeting…
Note: updated 9/20/09….There is a Calvary Baptist Church in Tyler…Some have suggested that this nudist church is not really a Christian church at all and I would suspect as much…My fellow believers and I believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and we try to obey all his teachings….I really do not think Christ condons such behavior, do you? But He does forgive such behavior….

From time to time we have discussed several towns around the state of New Mexico. I might should talk about towns that aren’t….I mean a spot and name show up on road maps, but if you are traveling through the state and are depending on buying gas at some of those towns, OMG, to late…I never let my car get under 1/4 tank while traveling, not out here…As an example, on Highway 285, between Roswell and Vaughn, a distance of 90 miles there shows to be two locations on the map, and they were there at one time, Mesa and Ramon, but not now. Between Roswell and Portales, about 85 miles, we have some more…Elkins and Kenna…nope, no gas, but you can buy gas at the community of Elida…And Roswell to Tatum, 72 miles and it shows Caprock on the map…If they have gas there it is something new…Over at Carrizozo going to San Antonio on Highway 385, 65 miles and it shows Bingham on the map, but they have a rock shop and that is all I can remember there…White City, NM to El Paso, TX, about 145 miles there used to be a station or two, but I don’t think any of them are operational anymore…So if you come see us and you are about to leave a community that has gas, please check your gauge and have a little water with you…The “watch for water” signs can be amusing, except they do carry off water from rains miles away up in the mountains, so don’t let them fool you..And the deer crossings are for real as the deer and elk cross the roads heading for water or feeding near the roadway at night, especially in the mountains….One other thing you may find amusing is that a town will have a sign out on the roadway announcing their name and elevation, not name and population as the town of some states do…I think Carlsbad is our lowest in elevation at around 3300 feet, give or take a few feet….We have a lot of miles, so you need to stop ever so often and walk around the car to get a little exercise, keeps the blood flowing….But I hope you come see us and learn all about New Mexico for yourself….Every restaurant will ask if you want red or green when ordering New Mexican food, but traveling you will see lots of brown, until you reach 7500 feet or so, say Santa Fe, the highest city in the old U. S. of A….Come see us….

Brian Urlacker, 10 year veteran linebacker for the Chicago Bears is out for the season due to a wrist injury. That’s bad news for the Bears. They have already named a replacement. But, if he does not work out, maybe they should consider this….Hire Serena and have her bring a couple of sleeves of her “balls” with her, line her up as linebacker and let her scream across the line of scrimmage, telling the opposing quarterback where she is going to stuff that ball and then the rest of the defense can help take care of the balance of the business. I personally think any quarterback would be shaking in his boots with that girl pointing one of her balls at him….what do you think?

Many years ago, probably before the dinosaurs were extinct, I was in high school at Pickens County High, Reform, Alabama…At that time, I was taught that we had government because we needed them to do those things that we could not do for ourselves, i.e., standing army, fighting crime, protecting the citizens and some other things…Somewhere along the line, things changed as now our citizens want the government to take care of the them, cradle to grave and act like it is owed to them…and I am hearing we must take care of the people who come into our country illegally. That really burns me, if so….One thing, I did pay into the SSI all my working life and I expect to get as much of that back as I can and at the same time I can understand why our younger citizens are concerned about their golden years, as they should be. We have figured out we can vote us a guy into office that will give us what we want, whatever it is and somebody, somewhere, apparently with deep pockets will pay for it all…One of these days folks are going to figure out there ain’t no “free bubble-up and rainbow stew”….Some of us got to pay the fiddler….I guess that is gonna be you and me, huh?…dang
