An article in todays Albuquerque Journal by Michael Hartranft, Sunroof, tells of a company here in Albuquerque spending 5 million dollars to cover their empolyee’s parking lot, get this, with solar panels….solar panels to provide energy for the company, reportly about 80 % of their power needs, and providing shade for many of the cars of the employees…5 acres worth…5 million dollars for 1.1 megawatt photovoltaic system….5,040 solar panels at The Bell Group headquarters….That’s something, huh? Well, I thought so. you can catch the entire article at ABQjournal.com….I enjoyed the article Mr. Hartfanft…good job…
Listen folks, I have messed with Bill most of his administration…Sometimes jokingly, sometimes not….we have to give the man his due…He has been called on to negotiate in many situations…He is in Cuba pushing them to free Alan Gross, a U. S. government subcontractor jailed there for about nine months. He traveled to Cuba as part of a mission to strengthen trade and cultural partnerships between New Mexico and Cuba. I don’t know if he will be successful or not, but you have to hand it to the man, he does a good job in that area. He has been involved with negotiations in several instances to get people released from foreign governments…from Korea a while back comes to mind…He is always willing to try and I applaud him for his efforts…Way to go, Governor…I am sure Mr. Gross and his family appreciate it very much. Did I ever tell you that I enjoyed collecting coins? Yes, a numismatic…I was really into it a few years ago, then coins went stale, many reduced in value. Today, with the present prices of gold and silver they are coming back. No, I don’t have any gold, gosh darn it and I have very little silver but the ones that I do have have gained value with the good silver prices…I hope it holds…Matter of fact, some folks probably think coins would be a good investment nowadays. I like wheat back pennies and Jefferson nickels…back in the 1970’s and early eighties I was told that the Jefferson nickels would be good to save and at the time very few were saving them. I could get good coins in pocket change every day…They are hard to find today, the older dates is what I am referring to….usually, if you get a good coin or two from a cash register, go back to the same cash register and buy some more change…Someone has either needed to get into their coin stash or some child found them and needed some candy money. Either way, I always look at my change for good coins..So, if you have several good coins, put them away…Our paper money may lose all it’s value one of these days but the coins will have the metal value or face value….won’t it?…heck, I don’t know…But have you noticed there seems to be a comfort factor when you have coins to jingle in your pocket?…Or is that a depression era thing?
Addlepated…1.being mixed up..CONFUSED…2. ECCENTRIC….I was going to write that I had found my problem….Mixed up, ….naw, that’s not me….Confused, naw, not really….I know pretty much what I want, etc….Under eccentric the dictionary says, “see strange”….now we are getting somewhere….Did you ever feel a little addlepated? Strange? I remember a few times when the first sarge told me everyone was out of step but me….Well, it happens…You know what I mean…But folks, if you’re like me you also realize that after a while everybody else will catch up, huh?…If a fellow waits a little bit, everything works out…know what I mean, Vern?….
Well, a good friend shared an e-mail with me today concerning conservatives (right) and liberals (left) and why we are that way. The answer happens to be biblical: “The heart of the wise inclines to the right, but the heart of the fool to the left.” Ecclesiastes 10:2. Pretty good, huh?…Well, I thought so….You know the dangers of the “middle of the road”? You’re liable to get hit from both directions….
Well, I did’nt really read Mr. Navarrette today, kinda of skimmed his article and it made a lot more sense that way. He was talking about kids of illegals and getting their education and staying in the USA, many of them living their entire lives in the US. I don’t want to do anything to hurt anyone, you know what I mean, but on the other hand where do you stop?…Well, I said I wasn’t going to read him and I didn’t, much…well, not real good…but he did have his e-mail address back at the end of the article…but, if I inherit a stolen car, it is still a stolen car….Right?
Gosh, these conferences…”What the hell is going on?”….to quote on old friend of mine….Now the Mountain West is doing the, er, stealing from the WAC….Fresno State and Nevada?….BYU going Independent?…Did you read TCU’s advise to them?…Don’t do that…Independent is not the way to go…and TCU may be trying to leave the Mountain West? One reason is money and they want a BCS chance, for real. I don’t blame them for that. However, in my mind I already had a case for the old MWC, with Utah, TCU and BYU, especially with the addition of Boise State….Both Fresno State and Nevada are good ball clubs….Well, the good news is we don’t have to change the name of the Mountain West or the WAC…It’s not like the Big 10/12 or the Pac 10/11 or is the the PAC 10/12…I forget….No, its the Big 12/10….Wait it that right?…Crap, I got to learn them all over again….
I was watching a program on TV the other night. The folks caught a huge alligator gar. One guy held its mouth open revealing about a thousand sharp teeth….well, a bunch of teeth anyway. It reminded me of the story in my downloads from Cousins, Chapter Nine. Some of you that live around Coal Fire Creek, Alabama may have fished that hole. Question, can that big alligator gar still be alive and well since my youthful days there in Coal Fire. The hole that has the old cypress stump was up creek from the US Highway 82 bridge near Coal Fire, probably 1/2 mile north or so..I wonder when the last time that big rascal was seen by someone. Listen, as a kid many years ago, swimming in the same hole with that monster took guts…I would not swim nude in that hole for fear of him thinking that I was trolling…that was a scary place to fish…check out Cousins, Chapter Nine in the downloads, part fiction, part true….Thanks, Pete
Hey guys, if you come in under spam on a comment and also with a non-working e-mail address, there is no way to contact you. Please remember that especially if you are asking me a question or wanting some type reply. Thanks much, Pete Hester
I was so glad to hear that the Roswell happenings in July 1947 was a weather balloon and the small caskets originally asked for were not needed and the parts of the weather balloon were immediately needed up at Wright Patterson Air Force Base for further study and that the writings on the braces was a design placed there by the Military for decorations just to dress up the weather balloon. That was good stuff that all of us Americans can believe…..Area 51, first claimed not to exist but later said that there may be a place to support development and testing of experimental aircraft and weapons systems….Now I wonder, if the Roswell incident actually happened, if there were survivors of the UFO crash there, what became of them….Maybe an area out in the middle of nowhere, near where 739 nuclear explosions took place, could be an ideal place for landing of people from unearthly locations to conduct business with our government?….Naw, that’s an over active imagination, huh?….I wonder why it is that our ordinary citizens see strange sights in the sky, reports them and our military radar never sees anything? I wonder why the British Government is releasing some of its classified documents on UFO sighting and our government has not said anything….Did the USA make a secret pact with these unearthly creatures and not tell any of the other world powers? Naw, that’s an over active imagination, huh? Area 51 workers cannot ever speak of any operations within the confines of that work place and apparently people in one building know nothing of what the people in the next building are doing….I am sure it is a typical, “protect our jobs environment” and for me to think anything else would be the “over active imagination” again…I suppose some of the readers out there have some ideas as to what happens there…. do you?….Would you share your ideas?…Naw, probably not….
