Getting Older

No. 2 son has just purchased a house…nice place but painting has been required….Painting just ain’t as easy as it used to be, is it? I was assigned the pantry yesterday….No. 2 son and no. 3 grandson would not let me get on the ladder so grandson did up high and I did mid-heights down, including underneath the lower shelf. You know, its a lot harder to get down than it used to be also and it is dang sure harder to get back up…….. At some point in time I think one begans to feel worthless….Well, I am not there yet, but close. I got home pretty early yesterday and Sweetie asked why I was home so early…I told her they laid me off…She laughed but we ran out of paint, having just enough for baseboards…And as shaky as I am they surely don’t want me doing baseboards…..One thing happened day before yesterday, No. 2 was coming down the ladder from cutting in his 12 foot ceilings and had placed the 5 gallon paint bucket too close to the ladder. Yeah, he did…he stepped in the paint bucket with his no. 12 shoe, then he grabbed the ladder to pull himself out of the bucket, pulling the ladder over on top of him, nearly, except no. 3 grandson caught it…No. 2 ended up on his back in the middle of the floor in  a pool of white paint on the carpet, surrounded by No. 3 gs and me….We were not laughing then as cleaning up that mess was the main thing….However, yesterday when we recounted the incident, we all had a good laugh over it. All is well that end well, the carpet cleaned up ok, the paint job looks great and no. 2’s “white” boot is now brown again…… Maybe I ain’t the only one getting older, huh son?…

Bad Bill Maher….

If it is storming around Bill Maher, I would not stand close to him….What a terrible, uneducated, unchristian thing to say…He must be some weird religion or something….Come to think of it, he is probably a Maherite….Believeing only in himself…I hope he will one day seek forgiveness….If not, Satin, Hilter and Bill will be having quite the time in the hereafter…. I’m assuming Hilter did not seek forgiveness, I am not sure about that…..Anyway, Mr. Maher, you are doing pretty good here on earth, but that will last only another 40 or 50 years or so, then what?….You don’t have a clue, do you?…..You might should Tebow on it some…..Pete Hester

Albuquerque Hole…..

That’s right, that’s what KRQE weatherman called it.  The canyon winds out of the east whipping through the canyon coming into Albuquerque is keeping the snow out of Albuquerque. Radar shows the weather all around Albuquerque but the city proper, no cloud cover, no snow, no rain, blows it all around us. Out here on the west mesa we have a little better chance than Albuqauerque proper to get some snow, but not much. That is strange, huh? It”s ok, just strange. I’ll just leave the old snow shovel hanging in the garage. Back to that east wind for a second, wow, the chill factor is “way on down yonder”. (Excuse me for a second.)…. Thank you Lord, for this good warm house and a good supply of natural gas and electricity and enough money to pay for those items….Now, where was I…Oh, yeah, it is supposed to be bad tomorrow also and the KRQE weatherman says that tomorrow the Albuquerque Hole may go away, soooo, then I’ll bring out the snow shovel…..That’s the way the flakes fall I guess…..

You remember no. 2 granddaughter and me going to Alabama for the reunion last summer, right? She met my nephew’s wife for the first time. I really think it was love at first sight for them both. We took this picture and it reflects how both of them felt about that meeting. They treated KJ and myself wonderful, fed us so well, boated us around Lake Tuscaloosa. What an enjoyable time…And KJ also fell in love with Alabama and our folks on  her first trip there. Thanks guys for being so nice to us.

Tebowing…now an offical word (Means to Kneel & Pray, give thanks, ask for help)

What a powerful force….It has always been there, but seems like Tim is helping to bring it out in all of us. There is something about being on one’s knee when talking to The Master, The Almighty, The Great I Am, either in thanksgiving or in asking for Devine Intervention in matters….Yes, apparently that does include football games, thanks to Tim invoking His help. Others have called on him for years, however, I think Tim is the first to drop to a knee in public and pray…Well, I don’t know for sure but Reggie White might have, but if so, it was not talked about big time. It was just a few short weeks ago that Coach Fox was not sure Tebow would keep his job. Mr. Elway is still not sure Tebow will keep the job. I don’t know either, but I do know that if he, Tim, continues to ask God’s help in defeating his opponents and God continues to respond to his request, winning will come…It will continue, Tim will continue to win. This Tebowing thing  has been a valuable lesson for all of us. In case you are wondering, I did in fact Tebow just a little bit over this article and Tebowed about this web site….Amen

Same sex marriage stuff….Gospel quartet stuff…Cowboy/Tebow stuff

You know the Bible tells me to use extreme caution when talking about some one else’s sin and to take care of my own first then maybe I  will have a right to talk about other folks sins. In today’s paper a lady writes in a column that now politicians are finding same sex marriage more acceptable. My only thoughts would be that the politicians “ain’t who” those folks should be worried about. Our Lord in heaven is the one who said a man ought not lie with another man….Wasn’t “no” politician who brought that subject matter up….Yeah, I know, I got my own battles to fight but I recognize  what I do wrong as a sin and I am not looking to some politician to help me get worse in my sinning…Amen?….I look to the Lord to help me overcome. I hope all of the same sex folks will do the same…Amen?

Gospel quartet singers…Have you heard of the Jubil-Heirs from around Ft. Worth/Dallas area, managed by Jerry and Laura McElroy…I don’t know for sure how long they been singing together, but a long time. Well, I used to sing with Jerry when I was with the Harmony Brothers Quartet, Carlsbad, NM….Jerry sang bass and joined our group right out of high school. We knew from the very first that we had us a winner…He had the smoothest bass voice that I had ever worked with. You can go to heavensounds.com and put in or look for the Jubil-Heirs and some folks have posted youtube songs featuring them. Anyway, I spoke with him yesterday, via phone, as he & his group was on their way  back home from an engagement in Slaton, TX. They are doing about 100 concerts a year as a part time group….That’s pretty active…It was so nice to visit with him and learn of his life these past few years…Sounds like that deep bass voice is still in excellent shape……Need some singers for your church group get together, drop them an e-mail, lmac17@sbcglobal.net and I am sure they will get back to you pronto…

Cowboy/Tebow stuff….Romo, I think you need to drop to a knee, do a little Tebowing…Well, some of you should anyway….. Mr. Jones maybe…Naw, you go ahead, Tony…Now if you do it to make fun, its all over….Tebow for real and you might go to winning some of these close games…Seems unfair to seek to invoke the Almighty in a football game, don’t it?…But it has sure been working for Tim..We got to do something down ’round Dallas…Wonder if Tim would whisper a prayer for the Cowboy’s…..Well, that may be a little too much I reckon….ok, my Tebowing ain’t all that strong, but I will give it a try…Some of you Cowboy fans help me….I believe Tom Landry did a lot of it….(I met Coach Landry on a Southwest Airlines trip to Dallas from Amarillo years ago. What a nice man. I’m still mad at Jones for firing him like he did.) Let’s go Cowboys….Tebow some….

BCS….BS

Something is wrong when some of America’s finest young men do not get to play in the Championship game simply because they do not belong to an elite conference…..It’s very wrong and all you folks know it….You can make all kind of excuses, “it’s as good as we can get it bs”,…. it is not as good as we can get it….Why not have the selection committee from folks like, NBC, CBS, ABC, ESPN, FOX SPORTS, Associated Press and several major newspaper sports editors from around the country, say every major market in the USA…There has to be a better way and you cannot tell me that we don’t have the people capable of doing it. It is the money stopping it and as long as WE THE PEOPLE  keep our mouth shut and do nothing, it will never change….So, as long as it is money, I suppose that is better than good people deciding. That has become the case…MONEY….To bad….Sam Houston State, University of Louisana, Lafayette, Lousiana Tech, Southern Mississippi, Northern Iowa, University of Houston, Temple….Yeah, I know they are nobodies, but every once in a while the nobodies produce somebodies, eleven somebodies on both sides of the ball that nobody sees in a real good year….what a shame…what a shame, America, they are your boys also….

Pujols…Angel fans will pay 156,000/game for 10 years

Boy, Angel fans between Pujols and Wilson, you guys will be paying out a fortune to see these two play for the next five years….252,000 per game for the two players, and then for another five years, 156,000 per game just for Pujols…That is based on 160 games per year….per game, folks, per game…when will it stop? If the average attendance is 30,000 fans per game, the $8.40 per ticket to pay for those two players. At 80 home games, 16.80 per ticket. If they play the other seven starters three million per year, that’s another 4.38 per ticket or 8.76 per ticket for 80 home games. Well, what about managers, coaches, vice presidents, owners, ticket sales people, field operations people, and I can only imagine all the others involved….That has to be another bunch…but 8.40 (or 16.80) for two people…Wow….I’m not jealous, I’m mortified….But you fans are the ones to decide, if it’s important to you, you can pay, but as for me……FORGET ABOUT IT…..
