Well, we took a little trip down to the east side of the state…A little warm but not any worse than Albuquerque. It took forever for global warming to get here but it quickly made up for it’s delayed arrival. At Portales, the afternoon storms cool things off some. A couple of times it looked like rain but it turned out to be empty promises except for one afternoon when they got a pretty good shower. It’s nice to be home….The construction company completed paving our street so we missed out on that. Matter of fact, our neighbor called and said, “maybe you should stay one more day”. We did and missed all the paving….Thanks, neighbor…Man o’ man, got to play catch up on the mowing and weed eat’en tomorrow, big time…Oh well, I enjoyed my rest…Pete….ps. On Clovis, did I mention that Cannon AFB has a new mission…They are talking F-35 and F-22 aircraft, 90 some odd strong and about 50 unmanned aircraft….unmanned, um, sounds kind of scary, don’t it?….Oh well, so it goes…At the Portales Walmart, military men come in sporting military dress reminding one of a military town. Now it houses about as many military men as does Clovis. The town is growing and building, and so is Eastern New Mexico University…..Good area….Good folks….

Ok, global warming hit New Mexico….100 degrees, then 99 degrees so I am now thinking global warming has finally made it here. It looks like in the next week the temperature is going to stay stuck up around 99 or so. But I am not going to fuss about it… it is more information for my stuff file…but it was 104 down in Carlsbad. No 1 son lives down there and I imagine he is enjoying the heck out of that warm weather, huh, son???

Come November 2010 New Mexico will have a female governor. I probably can’t write about them like I did ole Bill, it just ain’t the cowboy way….We need to be nice to the ladies…Now, if one of them happen not to be a lady, well then, look out….But we gonna treat them as ladies until they prove different. I have met and spoke with Lt. Gov. Diane Denish…A nice lady and I liked what she had to say…At the time our Governor was, er, ah, traveling out of state and she was the big boss for that period…Matter of fact, she was the big boss for many periods…But Bill was doing important stuff for the govenment, going overseas and all, matter of fact since he came away clean from the state of New Mexico, President Obama might have a place for him some where, reckon? well, back to the governor race…Ms. Susana Martinez, a District Attorney from Las Cruces is the republican candidate for governor….I have heard her on TV and she made a good impression on me having some good things to say about the office and how she can and will improve it….I don’t know just yet…my conservative nature tells me one thing but my sense of fairness tells me to wait about making a selection….I’ll keep you posted..I would like to hear my fellow New Mexican’s opinion if you would like to comment, let me know…..thanks Pete Hester

My number one grand-daughter did something her old grandpappy would never do. Jump from a perfectly good aircraft, just for the heck of it….Birthday present no less….I guess she gets it from her daddy’s side of the family as I am pretty sure it’s not from mine…I told you about falling off a ladder and suffering a concussion….My sweetie has to hold the ladder for me when I am climbing on top of the house to work on the air conditioner or check the roof…so I am very proud of no. 1 grand-daughter and I applaud her courage…..You know what the Bible says don’t you?….”Lo, I am with you always.” Didn’t say nothing ’bout, Hi, I am with you always…..That’s all I got to say about that….Paps

I don’t know about you reader’s families, but when some of us get together it pretty much about eating and visiting. And we take it serious….We have some wonderful Mexican restaurants here in town and when certain members come in they have their favorite places to go and then we have to share our favorites with them… Then, all of them are darn good cooks, including my darling….So, eating out, snacks, get togethers meals, desserts, late night “can’t sleep snacks”, in between meal snacks, and “because someone else got something and it looked so good” snacks….. My son in law brought the fixings from Tucson for stratch tacos and on his, he does the shell, then adds cheese, then meat, then more cheese then the stuff…. tomatoes, lettuce, salsa, etc, and my wifes pinto beans/ham were out of this world, of course after we added about 3 spoons of salsa to them…and she had this cake that she poured some hot, sweet, buttery sauce over and it was to die for (and its a wonder I did not)…I don’t remember what all else in the way of food, but it was a wonderful time. no.1 daughter and no.1 son in law…no 2 son and family, lots of visiting…..and 42…us boys (no.1 SIL and me) won….my daughter and wife did not have a chance, well, we did have to have a play off and it did look a little scary at times, but we prevailed. We added a new wrinkle to the game, before bidding on your hand, partners could swap one domino if they desired, except when bidding a “Plunge” then you could not exchange…It was a welcomed change and we might continue doing that for a while…anyway, that was our weekend and I loved it….It was fun…

You know, Arizona does not have an immigration problem at all. They have a problem with illegal aliens invading their state, sucking up the states money through welfare and medical services, school services, etc….yesterday there was a protest rally and the networks stated over 10,000 people were involved…well, dud, there are over 11 million in the states illegally and about 400,000 of them in Arizona. The 400,000 are free to go back or to travel on over to other states that want the law breakers in their state…Need we remind anyone that illegal entry into the United States is wrong and breaking the law….None of our states need any more lawbreakers…If the illegals will go home there will be no profiling,…. guaranteed…comments?

You know, I have made very little money on my writings and that’s ok. Originally I thought maybe my writings could be about money…But it really is not….I think most importantly it’s about getting this “stuff” out of my mind and on to paper or a blog. After writing, then I can relax and build up a little more “stuff” to write on later. I also enjoy making up stories and entwining the story around a few facts. I enjoy doing that. Secondly, I enjoy receiving a comment or two about how you the reader has received some degree of pleasure from reading some of my “stuff”. Thank you for that….My head and my heart both swell up just a mite from a good compliment. I enjoy reading that….So, thank you for coming by, thank you for reading my posts and stories and thank you for leaving a nice compliment…I appreciate it a lot…Pete Hester

I went to sleep last night without having one thought about the safety of my wife and I. Nor about my children and other family members. We have grown so used to the military protecting us and our interests that most of the time we fail to give thanks for their efforts. Military men are still dying every day so that our time is our time, to do with what we please…Thank you, men and women of our military…We do get lacks in telling you how much we appreciate you. So, from the very bottom of this old vet’s heart….Thank you….Pete Hester
