403 Forbidden Message…Have any others received that message on this site?

I received this e-mail from Errol who could not post his comment. I tried to post it for him and could not. So, I have made a new posting showing his comment and I hope that any of you who had received similar notices will let me know. Thanks for sharing this Errol and I hope it does not happen again. I did not do anything to stop comments and I have not done anything to try and correct the 403 error…matter of fact, I don’t have the foggiest idea what to do about it. Maybe some of our readers can help us out. Pete

The kind webmaster must have this posting closed to comments since I always got
an error message when I tried to post it. At any rate, the following is my
comment made through email:

I wonder what would happen if Geronimo did come
home. He might resurrect an invading force and lead his disenfranchised brethern
in an invasion force and surround the governor’s mansion in Santa Fe demanding
the right to build a casino. Personally, I believe that the free market should
decide the viability of a casino in Lordsburg. If the descendant brethren of
Geronimo can raise the necessary funds to build their casino, then they should
be allowed to do so and let the free market decide. After all, the descendants
of Geronimo are supposed to be a free nation which has nothing to do with the
state government in Santa Fe as long as they behave themselves and not become
envolved in an insurrection. Let the Fort Sill Tribe have their freedom. Some
casinos are doing well while others are closing. The ghost of Geronimo just may
have the management skills to makes theirs survive and thrive. They are
Americans. Let’s give them the chance.

Dad Blame Chiricahua Indians….Hiding as Fort Sill Apache…Bring Geronimo Home

I wrote this back in February, 2010. An update is below this postings.

Ok, time for another installment of my stuff writing. Now you remember me telling you in the camping stuff post about Cibola National Forest being broken up into three segments, right? Well, I want to tell you about the section west of Socorro. If you look at a New Mexico map and see the towns (that may be  overstating facts) of Winston and Chloride. Ok, just north of there at the tail end of the Cibola National Forest and at the county line lies the Reservation of the Warm Spring Apache Tribe (abandoned) that I have researched so much and have developed a fondness.(Some maps will show it).  Chief Victorio was one of the most fierce of all the Apache chieftains, but we certainly pushed him in that direction. After all, he stood in the way of silver mining and potential gold mining and copper mining for goodness sake. We could not let that happen by some 400  strong tribe (probably at their biggest), could we? His tribe was massacred Oct 14 and 15, 1880 down in Mexico. The remnants of the tribe joined Geronimo and the Chiricahuas. Well, we conquered them and kept them and the Chiricahua tribe prisoners of war for 27 years. We hauled them off to Florida, Alabama and then Oklahoma and said this is your new home boys, never to return….I don’t know why, but the reservation lies idle today, and I guess it is to allow the spirits of the Warm Spring Tribe to forever enjoy that area they so dearly cherished and called home….You remember our Govornor disallowed the Fort Sill Apaches to build a casino down at Lordsburg, huh? They are some of the descendants of the Warm Springs and Chiricahua…We did not need another casino, but had it been me, I would have allowed it just because of the history of the tribe…I have Mississippi Choctaw blood from my Granny Hester, I’m not sure how strong, but I guess it’s strong enough to feel some kinship for my Apache brothers….

March 20, 1015….Albuquerque Journal reported today that the Fort Sill Apaches did not deserve a casino in New Mexico or maybe better said, would not be allowed to build a casino in New Mexico. That kind of upsets me. I am not a member of that tribe nor do I know anyone in that tribe…But, the Warm Spring Apache (written about above) led by Nana after Victorio’s death in 1880 joined the Chiricahuas with the few remaining members of the Warm Spring group, including Charlie, Victorio’s son. The Warm Spring tribe called New Mexico home. Their reservation still remains exact where I said it was above, just south of the Cibola National Forest. With all the information available, including mine, which is the least of all that information, tells that the Fort Sill Tribe in Oklahoma is in fact, from New Mexico and Arizona. So, Governor, deny the Fort Sill Tribe a casino if you must, but the denial cannot be because they are not a New Mexico tribe….No one listens to me….No one listens to them….It’s sad….I wish Geronimo could come home…Does anyone else?

New Mexico Wildlife…Bighorn Sheep

Here is some information on hunting bighorn sheep in New Mexico.

Alpine Hunts

Alpine hunts in the Pecos, Latir, and Wheeler Peak Wilderness take place at 12,000 ft to 13,000 ft. Access to these areas is often best achieved via horseback, as most groups of bighorn live far from trail heads. The climate can be very fickle in late summer and early autumn, and hunters need to be prepared for sunny warm days, as well as clouds, rain, and sleet, for days as a time. Care must be taken to not be trapped above timberline if a lightning storm should arrive. The high altitude provides an additional challenge as the shortage of oxygen can limit the hiking plans of even the most physically fit. The sweeping expanses of wilderness with jagged peaks and tundra plains are one of the highlights of hunting in the Pecos, Latir, and Wheeler Peak herds.

Hester BooksThis good looking smile of mine is not an accident, folks. When I retired I no longer had dental insurance, so I started going down to the UNM, School of Dental Hygiene and let the students there practice their skills on me. It as been about five years now. I get a second year student and usually we stay together until they graduate. I’ve had some good ones, all nice and caring girls who have gone on to jobs in their chosen career. Yesterday, I said goodbye to Kayle. I could well remember her first time working one me, I’m always kinda “skeered” the first time, but she did good and the instructor only corrected her on a few things. Yesterday, she was a real professional. The instructor bragged on her and I commented to the instructor that she indeed was now a pro. The instructor said that is what they like to hear. But she really was. She had to deep clean two of my back teeth on both sides of my mouth. She gave me two shots and did a good job, with the shots and deep cleaning. When she walked me up to check out and charge me for those services, she gave me a hug…well, and I hugged her just as much, saying goodbye, as she will be graduating this year and moving on with a new job somewhere in Albuquerque or Rio Rancho. She let me know that her, “little”. a name for her replacement, Maria would be handling me starting in August. Maria will be my fourth one to help train….You know what? I feel so proud of all those kids and while my part is so small in their training, I still just feel like an important part of it…So it’s goodbye, Kayle and hello, Maria. I hope to keep that “good looking” smile….Thank you, UNM School of Dental Hygiene…

New Mexico Lobos Men’s Basketball Team….

Disappointing…yes…No NCAA this year…No NIT this year…Well, we could win it all at the MWC tournament this year in Las Vegas and make it, but that’s highly unlikely as we would have to win them all…Teams that we could not beat in regular season and we lost another player with a broken hand last week. We have our top players sitting on the bench, injured….We play extremely good defense, we just don’t have any real good shooters left…The one we do have is guarded by a couple of people so it is hard for him to get a good shot off….Well, “wait ’til next year”… we won our last game against a good Wyoming team and played very tough, breaking a eight game losing streak…but you know what, even with the losing streak, the boys played before sell out crowds, 15,000 plus …And you can say, “well, there is nothing else to do in Albuquerque”, but that is just not true…The truth is the Albuquerque folks love their basketball Lobos….They also love the Lady Lobos, who by the way finished tied for first place in the conference and may go on to further tournament play, draw about 6000 fans a game….We will be pulling for the Lady Lobos the rest of this year but I think our boys are about finished for this season…… Let me mention that down south at Las Cruces, New Mexico State Aggies won the WAC conference and will be playing in the Big Dance, representing the State of New Mexico and we will be cheering them on. I think they finally have all of their boys healthy for a change….Go Aggies…

Politics….So Tiring, Huh?

Do you get as tired as I do of hearing about the bad guys? Republicans and Democratic…In those two parties there has to be thousands upon thousands of ideas, opinions, feelings, good, bad, right, wrong…A couple of my family members tend to lean left, a couple of us tend to lean right, a couple of us stays pretty close to the middle and that is with the same upbringing, same rights and wrongs in their teaching….How does that happen, you reckon? I suppose, different teachers in school, different situations arising during their school years, a genuine difference in the way things are viewed when they happen or even the understanding of the explanation of situations presented to them. But it is good to have these differences….I agree with their right, really I expect their right to an opinion, no matter how the rest of the family views it….. But, the main thing is, while each of our family respects the other family members opinion, don’t make the mistake of believing that the family is divided. No sir, we don’t think alike, but, yes sir, we all love alike….and strongly…. Around here, love stands head and shoulders above politics…..24/7

Letter to President Obama by Lou Pritchett of Procter & Gamble..

Chilling Letter from Proctor & Gamble to Obama

By Lou Pritchett,

A LETTER FROM A PROCTER AND GAMBLE EXECUTIVE TO THE PRESIDENT
THE LAST SENTENCE IS THE MOST CHILLING

Lou Pritchett is one of corporate America ‘s true living legends – an
acclaimed author, dynamic teacher and one of the
world’s highest rated speakers. Successful corporate executives everywhere
recognize him as the foremost leader in change management.
Lou changed the way America does business by creating an audacious concept
that came to be known as “partnering.”

Pritchett rose from soap salesman to Vice-President, Sales and Customer
Development for Procter and Gamble and over the
course of 36 years made corporate history.

LETTER TO PRESIDENT OBAMA

Dear President Obama:

You are the thirteenth President under whom I have lived and unlike any of
the others, you truly scare me.

You scare me because after months of exposure, I know nothing about you.

You scare me because I do not know how you paid for your expensive
ivy-league education or your extravagant  lifestyle and housing with no visible signs of support.

You scare me because you did not spend the formative years of youth growing
up in America and culturally you are not an American.

You scare me because you have never run a company or met a payroll.

You scare me because you have never had military experience, thus don’t
understand it at its core.

You scare me because you lack humility and ‘class’, always blaming others.

You scare me because for over half your life you have aligned yourself with
radical extremists who hate
America and you refuse to publicly denounce these radicals who wish to see
America fail..

You scare me because you are a cheerleader for the ‘blame America ‘ crowd
and deliver this message abroad.

You scare me because you want to change America to a European style country
where the government sector
dominates instead of the private sector.

You scare me because you want to replace our health care system with a
government controlled one.

You scare me because you prefer ‘wind mills’ to responsibly capitalizing on
our own vast oil, coal  and shale reserves.
You scare me because you want to kill the American capitalist goose that
lays the golden egg which provides
the highest standard of living in the world.

You scare me because you have begun to use ‘extortion’ tactics against
certain banks and corporations.

You scare me because your own political party shrinks from challenging you
on your wild and irresponsible spending proposals.

You scare me because you will not openly listen to or even consider opposing
points of view from intelligent people.

You scare me because you falsely believe that you are both omnipotent and
omniscient.

You scare me because the media gives you a free pass on everything You do.

You scare me because you demonize and want to silence the Limbaugh’s,
Hannity’s, O’Reilly’s and Beck’s who offer opposing, conservative points of
view.

You scare me because you prefer controlling over governing.

Lou Pritchett

This letter was sent to the NY Times but they never acknowledged it.
Big surprise. Since it hit the Internet, however, it has had over 500,000
hits. Keep it going!

Death and Credit Cards….

This e-mail from a friend…It is a good one…

> This is hilarious.
> SHOULD I CANCEL MY CREDIT CARD BEFORE I DIE?
> Be sure and cancel your credit cards before you die!
> This is so priceless, and so easy to see happening, customer service
> being what it is today.
>
> SHOULD I CANCEL MY CREDIT CARD BEFORE I DIE?
> A lady died this past January, and Citibank billed her for February
> and March for their annual service charges on her credit card and
> added late fees and interest on the monthly charge.
> The balance had been $0.00 when she died, but now somewhere around $60.00.
> A family member placed a call to Citibank.
> Here is the exchange:
> Family Member: ‘I am calling to tell you she died back in January.
> Citibank : ‘The account was never closed and the late fees and charges
> still apply.’
> Family Member: ‘Maybe you should turn it over to collections.’
> Citibank : ‘Since it is two months past due, it already has been.’
> Family Member: ‘So, what will they do when they find out she is dead?’
> Citibank : ‘Either report her account to frauds division or report her
> to the credit bureau, maybe both!’
> Family Member: ‘Do you think God will be mad at her?’
> Citibank : ‘Excuse me?’
> Family Member: ‘Did you just get what I was telling you – the part
> about her being dead?’
> Citibank : ‘Sir, you’ll have to speak to my supervisor.’
> Supervisor gets on the phone:
> Family Member: ‘I’m calling to tell you, she died back in January with
> a $0 balance.’
> Citibank : ‘The account was never closed and late fees and charges still apply.’
> Family Member: ‘You mean you want to collect from her estate?’
> Citibank : (Stammer) ‘Are you her lawyer?’
> Family Member: ‘No, I’m her great nephew.’ (Lawyer info was given)
> Citibank: ‘Could you fax us a certificate of death?’
> Family Member: ‘Sure.’ (Fax number was given)
> After they get the fax :
> Citibank: ‘Our system just isn’t setup for death. I don’t know what
> more I can do to help.’
> Family Member: ‘Well, if you figure it out, great! If not, you could
> just keep billing her. She won’t care.’
> Citibank: ‘Well, the late fees and charges will still apply.’
> (What is wrong with these people?!?)
> Family Member: ‘Would you like her new billing address?’
> Citibank : ‘That might help….’
> Family Member: ‘Odessa Memorial Cemetery, Highway 129, Plot Number 69.’
> Citibank : ‘Sir, that’s a cemetery!’
> Family Member: ‘And what do you do with dead people on your planet???’
